In a world where everything is the same,
Where everybody is the same
Who will have the courage to be
Different
In a world of impossible powers, the only way to have a normal life is to trade what makes you yourself. What would you give up?
In this world...
Stella: Is well aware that everybody is jealous of her power. Stella can fly. She dreads her 13th birthday, when she will lose her power. When she will be normal. When she will be boring.
Anthony: Doesn't think he'd be worth much with out his powers. Anthony is the fastest kid in the city. He wonders what he'll be good for once he reaches the age of 13 and his powers are taken away. He can't think of anything.
Kirsten: Has an electrifying personality. Literally. She can pump a couple thousand volts through any part of her body. She figures that when they try to take her away she'll try to get away. But she doesn't think she'll succeed.
Marcus: Is the muscle. He lifts cars for fun. He can't even imagine trying to live without his powers. He can't imagine being weak. He doesn't even want to try.
Lonnie: Has the healing touch. She can fix anything from a scraped knee to a leg chopped off below the knee. She cries when she thinks about losing her power. About watching bad things happen. Seeing people hurt. Not being able to help.
Jason: Can change into whatever he wants. Chairs, tables, animals, plants. He can be anything or anyone. He doesn't like his real face to be seen. He doesn't want to live as his plain old self.
One thing these very different people all agree on:
SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE!
then they meet Brandon and Ginny
two kids about their age, who reveal that they are both over the age of 13.
AND THEY STILL HAVE THEIR POWERS.
the results are a terrifying chase, with the kids leaving
everything they know behind.
All they have is each other.
And all they have in common is that they refuse to be ordinary.
WE may just be a bunch of kids, but
WE still have our powers, and
WE will keep them, no matter what
WE will not back down,
WE cannot back down, and
WE are not afraid to be different.
