Sympra Thorton -- District 8

She has short-ish dark, near black, brown hair and eyes. Sympra is thin and underfed, though she has never gone a day without at least something to eat. A little shorter than average, she resents having to look up all the time, but what can you do right?

Working to make clothes mainly, but also the occasional table cloth or bedspread, Sympra is rather pale having to stay inside a lot. And when it is sunny, she stays inside anyway, reading or doing other chores. Her face doesn't have any distinguishing features on it really, so she isn't someone that you'd pick out from the crowd.

Quiet, keeps her head down. Sympra may appear docile and unopposing, but on the inside, behind the mask of indifference, some calculated thinking is going on. Even if you think you are seeing some emotions, there's a good liklihood that they (the emotions) are generated to lull you into a some state of feeling she wants you in.

Around her friends, Sympra can sometimes feel like she can let her guard down. Tell jokes, slouch, etc. But around strangers or people that are an authority, she will act stiff and serious. This can sometimes lead people to think she is unfriendly.

If she was to be forced into the Hunger Games, Sympra would most likely not kill any one. Unless it was an accident. She probably would not be able to watch anyone die either, with knowledge that she could have done something. Like many others, she resents the games, though she doesn't go around broadcasting this. The idea of humans killing humans unsettles her stomach.

Sympra Thorton, daughter of Benjamin and Lucy Thorton ((not real on here to my knowledge)), is the only child. She has been sheltered for the most part of her life, learning the trade that everyone in District 8 does at a young age: sewing and making materials ready to be made into fabrics, clothing, etc. So far she is best at creating bags. Purses without much decorations can hold up to 10 pounds when she's through - quite the feat for a 17-year-old there. ((i assume))

Recently, her mother has fallen ill and food is harder to come by. Sympra has taken on extra hours, as has her father. She also does the chores that her mother had normally done around the house now that she (mom) is too weak to get out of bed.

At age 16, Sympra had 21 slips in the glass orbs. Now 17, she holds her breath in wariness for the reaping. No one close to her has been callen from her district, although a cousin of her friend had gone before. Didn't end well. Since age 5 Sympra watched a boy get stung by tracker jackers and mistake a bear for some tamer animal. The Gamemakers showed the whole gory thing and no one had been around to shield her eyes from the horror.

I hope this is ok, I've only read book one, but I intend to get and read the next two soon.
