The forest has been my back yard for the past four years. Living on my own out in the woods is all I remember. Right when my parents died it was kind of a quick decision to leave District 12. Not having many friend made the decision even easier. I don't regret leaving, but not a day goes by when I wonder what would happen if I did stay. Perhaps I wouldn't be so lonely... Oh well, this is my life and this is how I am going to spend it.
It's early in the morning, the dew still on the leaves. The sun is barely up. It's time to hunt today. I slowly walk along the earth, my feet making little to no noise. It's a talent you pick up after awhile... I clean my dagger with a deer hide cloth I made awhile ago, waiting for my next opponent. My stomach gurgle and in response I see a rabbit. Perfect! I get ready to chuck my knife at it, but then something blocks my vision of the animal... And the thing doing the blocking definitely was not an animal...
