Ghost walked down the street, keeping to the shadows. He was truly as silent and unnoticeable as his name suggested. His bright blue-grey eyes flashed in the darkness, the only clue to his presence.
Well, not really, but wouldn't that be cool? Kade William Warren was actually just strolling through town. There were still hours until nightfall and he was enjoying the feel of sunlight on his skin. Ghost attempted to ignore the giggling gaggle of girls across the street. They pointed at him and he turned away, blushing. Some of the girls were cool, but there were the usual ones too young for him, but determined to have him. How was he supposed to feel when thirteen year old girls were throwing themselves at him? He walked a little bit further, and pushed the sensation of being watched by the girls, int other back corner of his mind.
A bird swooped down low, and Ghost jumped. Skittish! Its a good thing you're good looking or you would be a freaky little outcast, Johnny had said only a few days ago. For being nineteen, and well-liked by all, for various reasons, Ghost was a scardy-cat. He hated midnight strolls, and wouldn't even be taking a walk unless his mother had walked into his room and proclaimed he had to get out of bed this instant, claiming it was 2:00 PM. His mother was always worried he was turning into an old man at nineteen. What she didn't know is that he had been awake since around ten working on some newer pieces of jewelry. Kade Warren was no slacker.
He had walked out of his house determined to take a long walk through the District so that his mother would not worry. Yes, he was a mama's boy through and through. Ghost shook his head, smiling as memories of all the times his mother had told him to go out and hang with his friends. He was legally an adult, but his mother had pretty much forced him to stay at home, claiming rent was too expensive for a struggling jeweler like himself. He looked around at the people and buildings of District One. They were all well off. The District was prosperous, it wasn't like he was going to starve.
Ghost came to a sudden halt as he sensed eyes on him once again. He turned back to the group of teenage girls still casting glances in his direction, trying to get a feel for which one of them was checking him out. He turned away, rubbing his arm. It was a nervous habit. Ghost looked around for the mysterious watcher.
