OOC- Soo, I'm going to assume this is about a month later (which it pretty much is) after the Games ended. I'm gonna stick Saph in that same coffee shop they were at last time, and then they run into each other and then...we can take it from there? Maybe go see Kade's workshop, or something of the sort? Saph really doesn't have a special place like that.
It was particularly breezy for a late summer day; the wind blew harshly against the buildings of downtown District One, but inside a small coffee shop Sapphire was untouched by its ferocity. She sat alone at a tiny table beside a large window, absentmindedly watching as pedestrians, annoyed by the frequent gusts of air, passed by. A little dog yapped fiercely as the wind blew his fur around; a woman with a large hat on talked loudly into a cell phone. It was interesting, the simple things one could notice just by paying attention. And Saph had always been an attentive person.
So much had happed in the past month. The Games had come, once again. The tributes had only lasted a week in the arena; it was that brutal. Luckily she and Tope had escaped the Reaping once again, but for the first time Sapphire had known (known through a brief interaction, not well) the girl from her District who'd been sent to her death. As soon as the name had been called and the imposing figure of Drusilla Charlesburg had taken her place on the stage Saph remembered her; she was the girl who'd scared her silly on the day she'd met Kade. Even though the blue-eyed teenager hadn't gotten a good impression from Dru she still pitied her; no one deserved to die like that. No one.
Sapphire's birthday had also passed, just a week ago. Thankfully, no one had made a big fuss over it; they'd just had a small family dinner the night of, and she'd opened a couple of presents. Of course, halfway into the night her father had had to rush out on urgent business, so it was just Saph, Topaz, and their mom for most of the time. She didn't mind, though. It wasn't a big deal, and she didn't want it to be.
As she sipped her mocha latte the now sixteen-year-old tried to remember the last time she'd been here. It had been a while; during the Games she liked to stay in the house as much as possible, because she hated the excitement in the air of her district. What could possibly be exciting? Children were dying in there, more every day.
So if she hadn't come to this cafe since before the Games, the last time she'd been her must have been...that time with Kade. Of course. Sapphire sighed as Kade crossed her mind for the second time in a few minutes. Why did she miss him? They'd spent all of one hour together. And he'd run out, anyway. He obviously didn't like her as much as she liked him. She should just learn to deal with it, like she had dealt with everyone else who had turned away from her in the past. It was better to face the facts: she just wasn't the type of interesting person others enjoyed associating with, Kade included. She was just too boring.
With a heavy heart, Saph mindlessly twirled her coffee stirrer through the warm liquid, though it was perfectly stirred already. Her eyes traveled to a table near the counter; that was the one she and Kade had sat at last month. He'd bought her coffee after accidentally spilling her first one out on the street, shown her one of his most prized creations, an exquisitely crafted ring, and then made a run for it. Time and time again she'd tried to convince herself that his departure had been caused by something entirely seperate, that it didn't have anything to do with her. But it was no use. What else could it have been? Nevertheless, though, Sapphire had a desperate longing to see Kade again, even if it was just for a little while.
