Brave Golosus - District 11 Peacekeeper

Brave is a tall young man who stands at roughly six feet tall. Peacekeeper training has given him broad shoulders and strong arms, but years of malnutrition have robbed him of ever having a full six pack. Brave's stomach almost looks deformed because of the odd mixture of muscle and ribcage. His hair is a light brown and is shortly cut and thinly layered. It is usually combed over to the right side.

When Brave is wearing his peacekeeper armor, which is most of the time, he looks quite intimidating. But while wearing civilian garb he looks unimposing and boyish. Except for his eyes. They are pale blue and always seem angry and demanding of your respect. Brave doesn't carry himself like the residents of district eleven so you can easily tell him apart. He doesn't like making eye contact with anyone from the district and always walks with a slow but confident stride.

When Brave is off duty he tries his best to look nice. His clothes are always neatly folded and are never ruffled or dirty. He likes wearing things like dark jeans, baggy sweat pants and khaki shorts. He usually wears simple solid colored t-shirts and when it's cold a brown leather jacket. Regardless of what he's wearing Brave always smells nice. These days however Brave is only really happy when he's wearing his peacekeeper uniform. It just feels like home to him.

Brave has had bad teeth ever since he was little. Tooth paste is hard to afford in the districts and for most of his life Brave got by by using nothing but mouth wash. His breath doesn't usually stink but his teeth have a faint yellow tint to them that girls find very unattractive, maybe that's why he hardly ever smiles. When he was a little kid Brave and his brother Jacksus were wrestling around when Jacksus took it to far and threw Brave against the wall and he woke up a day later in the clinic with a scar running from his left shoulder to his right hip. He had hit a glass mirror and when it shattered a large chunk of glass sliced all the way across Brave's tiny body. Because it happened when he was little as his skin stretches to cover his growing body the wound will open back up again.

Some other interesting features about Bravery is that he posesses two tattoos. Written across his knuckles in gold lettering it spells "Fearless". This is a reminder to him of his brothers Torque and Jacksus who died in what most people saw as a senseless fight but what Brave saw as taking a stand for what they believed in and an unforgetable display of, well, bravery. The second tattoo is written in black cursive lettering and is on his right wrist. It reads "I will cut off the horns of the wicked, but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up. -Psalm 75:10" This quote is taken directly from the bible and it personifies how Brave feels about justice.

He's always been so eager to prove himself. Growing up in a crowded household with four older brothers, all of which are dead now, Brave always had to work hard to get anybodys attention. In a way this made him a stronger person, but also a more vicious one. The roughhousing they would do would always be taken to far and someone would always get hurt and Brave always made sure it wasn't him.

Slowly losing all his brothers really took a toll on Brave. At first he stopped eating but when he realized that wouldn't bring them back he tried to move on with his life. These days Brave is a very bitter person. He is short with everybody and has a vast superiority complex over the people from the lower districts, namely eleven. The thing Brave hates most is being looked down on by the other peacekeepers for being new because he himself feels like he's better than them.

Even though he believes their absolute authority over Panem is justified, Brave really doesn't like capitol people. If they weren't there the country would fall into chaos but most of them are just gluttonous hogs, and if Brave didn't do his job they would certainly be slaughtered and roasted by the people of the districts. The only people Brave really likes are the ones from the higher up districts. They are civilized enough to respect (his) authority but in the end they are real genuine people, unlike the ones who live in the capitol.

You could say Brave has a decent side. He's fine with putting a bullet through the head of anyone in district eleven but he never has had the stomach to watch one of the public whippings that go on there. If you gain Brave's respect, which is easier said than done, he will be there for you no matter what. You could say Brave's hostility and anger comes from being so lonely, but he'd probably punch you in the face. Something you wouldn't know about him is that he's just awful with girls, especially the ones he likes. When talking to them he gets tounge tied and he fumbles his words.

Brave has a deep respect for authority and usually doesn't question the rules. Like everybody else Brave knows deep down the way the capitol treats the districts isn't really right but he does his best to ignore this inner turmoil that he feels from time to time. Besides in the end he only has to do one thing and that's his job. The capitol is his boss and master and even though sometimes he might not agree with their rulings he does his best to put aside his own prejudice and enforce the law.

Brave was born in district two as the runt of the Golosus family litter. When he was born Brave had four older brothers and fate slowly took them all away from him. His eldest brother, to Brave's disdain he can't even remember his name, was killed as a tribute in the hunger games the year he was born. His father told Brave that he made it to the final eight but all the other contestants saw him as so much of a threat that all seven of them teamed up against him. Brave's brother took five of them out with an explosive before he was decapitated. He must have been one hell of a guy.

School was always a pain for Brave. He has never been particularly book smart and he couldn't stand being told what to do by his teachers. Brave got into his fair share of fights and usually came out on top to. But he had a lot of friends and was even on the junior wrestling team. The reaping was as scary for him as any other child growing up in district two. Brave wanted to be a career tribute at first but his mother wouldn't let him because of what happened to his brother, however Brave's first year of elegibility was when Torque and Jacksus died so he had to sign up for a tessarae to help scrape by.

Brave's father was a foreman at the mines and his mother was a nurse and because they both had well paying jobs they never had to much trouble putting food on the table, but it was never really enough to feed four growing boys. Septimum, Brave's elder by two years died of a strange illness when Brave was about seven. When Brave was twelve his brothers Torque, 18, and Jacksus, 16, got into a violent fight in the mines and they both died after taking a pickaxe to the brain.

The man who did it was publicly executed by a peacekeeper. This was the first time Brave took interest in the proffesion. Wether it was because of his recent loss or just the ammount of skill he showed, the peacekeepers had agreed to start training him at the young age of fourteen. When he was seventeen Brave was stationed in District 11 and he's been doing his best to "keep the peace" ever since. Growing up he never saw to much of his parents anyway, them being busy with their jobs and all, so leaving district 2 wasn't all that hard for him. However he does miss his old friends from time to time.
