Sarah immediately pipped up with an, "Me three!" She mildly glanced down at her clothes, absent mindedly wondering if she would need at coat. Spring had started to show and the snow was slowly turning to rain, but that didn't mean that the occasional flurries didn't come through the air. Seeing that she was wearing a tee-shirt and jeans, she figured that she could survive the chill of early spring.
"Coat, now." Dimitri said with a pointed glare in her direction. He knew, just by the way that she was looking at her clothes, that she was trying to be lazy and not get a coat. He rolled his eyes as she huffed out a sigh, but a small smirk pulled at the corners of his lips. "Hurry up, for god's sake Roza, I am starving."
Dimitri started walking to the door, motioning for Corissa to follow him, "Happy to call you Cori, I respond to almost anything but Sarah calls me Dimka. You are more than welcome to." Dimitri’s thoughts raced more than a mile a minute, had he really just offered his nick-name to someone who he just started talking to today? That never happened, because to be honest he hated getting close to the Careers, it made it hard when well . . . it just made it hard.
He thought back to him receiving the nick name from Sarah back when they were younger; she was just learning to forge decent speech at about the age of four or five, and she could not enunciate the name Dimitri. He couldn’t really blame her; he had at that point messed up and pronouncing his own name, let alone someone else’s. So in an effort to try and say the name, the name Dimka ended up spitting out. He never really understood how a ‘k’ ended up in the name, but it stuck. Roza, her nickname was a different story all together. Dimitri had been reading one of his favorite book series, some form of western novel, and the main character had been named Rosemarie. Now this girl had been snarky, sarcastic, fun loving, and protective, just like his sister. He never liked the name Rosemarie, and the main character went by Rose, so he never let the thought enter his mind. But then, the character’s love interest, a foreigner from Russia (his name’s origin no less!) had called the main character Roza, and he loved it. The name stayed as part of their little bond that they had.
Sarah stopped dead in her tracks after hearing Dimitri offer his nickname, Dimitri never offered his nickname! Hell, she had rarely ever heard him offer his first name to a trainee! She was supposed to be the only one who called him Dimka, and he was the only one that called her Roza. Alright, she conceded to herself in her personal crisis, Zak used her nick name and Dimitri's but he was different. She had to assume the Dimitri had just started talking to her today, but she wasn't sure. Corissa, or Cori apparently as she is called, had something of a control over her brother that she had to know about.
“You can call me Sar, S, or basically anything else that you want to call me. I respond to anything that even slightly resembles my name out of habit.” Sarah said, hiding her mild discomfort at her brother’s preach in sibling -etiquette.
Dimitri watched quietly as Sarah paused a moment, almost without a word. Oh well, he thought calmly, she had to start getting used to other people using his name. “Let’s go!” He said almost chipper as he motioned out the door, pulling on his duster and grabbing his phones and keys.
Sarah spoke as she walked out the door, “So where are we going?” She had pulled on a red coat, buttoned it up, and walked down the steps of the house.
Dimitri pulled the door shut with a minor slam, only to feel his phone vibrate in his pocket. Letting out an annoyed sigh, he pulled his phone out to see the Gym calling him.
"Klipper." He said briskly into the phone, praying that it was just a reminder call. Listening into the phone as a voice muffled by the gym's reverb told him that it was his shift to go back in two hours. Annoyed by the stupidity of the call, he made a sarcastic comment to one of the Trainers in Training, "No shit, I am an adult I do own a watch and a calendar."
He hit the button on the phone and groaned, "Sorry about that, some people tend to be stupid allot." He smirked at that a bit, trying not to get pissed. He spent allot of time trying to keep his control and some stupid 18 year old who was a half-assed Career was NOT going to anger him. You see, if you are a phenomenal Career, like Dimitri, you get offered a job as a trainer. If you are a great Career, as the one who just called him, you get trained to be a trainer. If you are a good Career, you get to work menial jobs around the District. If you are a bad Career, you tend to disappear. There are exceptions to the case, like those who want to go into Peace Keeping, but that is a whole other hierarchy.
"Again I ask, where's breakfast?" Sarah said, feeling left out of the conversation. She liked the attention to be on her, especially with her older brother. He was hers and she wanted to keep it that way!
"I don't know, Cori where do you want to go?" Dimitri asked looking over to the other girl for an answer. She was the guest, so she should get to pick . . . right? Well, normally that didn’t matter much before, but it did now. Dimitri had to question, what was this girl doing to his normal devil may care attitude towards Careers?!
