Appearance:
July was born and bred in the Capitol, so what's not to like? Sure, she's had some surgery done but who hasn't. And anyhow, looking au naturel is so last century.Personality:
As a wee child, before anything had been altered, July had mousy brown hair of a rather unworthy shade, a think nose and razor sharp chin. She lucked out in other departments though. Her jade green eyes, for instance, or her skin that when kissed by the sun turns into a full-blown tan. And that figure... so little of it has been altered. At the age of seventeen she had some liposuction done on her upper thighs and butt, but otherwise, she is naturally slender. Of course one can't help cellulite, which was the reasoning her mother used to convince her father to allow the procedure.
She wore him down after that, and over the course of the last year July has come to know the knife as a lover. Her nose has been trimmed, her chin rounded, her hair chopped and dyed. She keeps in lighter tones - yellow, pink, sometimes even a flare of orange. July is a fierce fashionista in the district, always desperate for the latest and greatest. She will wear any color, any time, any where. Give her a box of makeup and watch her disappear for hours.
The same goes for her clothing choices. The more flamboyant and outlandish the better. Does she do it to shock people? You betcha. And mostly, it works.
July is a bitch. You would know this if you so much as looked at her, and you'd definitely know it if you got up the courage to approach her. There's nothing so cantankerous about what she says. Maybe it's the way she looks. Those lips constantly upturned just enough to be smug. Those almond eyes telling you that you are not worth her time.History:
And you probably aren't, let's be honest. Unless you happen to be wealthier than July's family (about 10% of Capitol families are), or better looking (about .0001% of Capitolites are), then what good are you to her? July has ambitions, dreams of an even more lavish life, filled with diamonds and puppies with wings and house with everchanging colored paint.
It is her ability to dream that has allowed her to rise among her peers, socially. In her last year at school in the Capitol, she reigns supreme. This is strategy, all strategy. She befriended the wealthiest girl in school, the hottest guy, and made sure she stayed friends with them through thick and thin. Nothing could come between them - not school, not life, not hormones. Not if July wanted to remain on top.
She's a good organizer, a busy bee who quickly determines a person's usefulness. She's surrounded herself with a group of parties, and while they might seem eclectic from the outside, July has a use for every last one of them. Of everyone in Panem, they ought to be reasonably afraid for their futures.
Of course, there's no one more afraid of her own shadow than July, when it comes down to it. For all her dreaming of a better future, filled with glitter and gold, the feelings and attractions she's suppressed for so long have started to bubble up. And just how would she get that perfect someday, with a pale skinned baby to dote on, if she gave into that core desire? So for now she flirts recklessly with men and hopes against hope that the fire in her chest will die under the storm of her conviction.
July was born as an afterthought. Not an accident, mind you, that would be insulting. No no, just a rather late realization that another child would be just the thing. She is preceded by three siblings, her eldest sister Amora is already 35 and a mother several times over, and her brothers King and Tungsten are 33 and 30 respectively. They all have barely factored into her life. She remembers them as babysitters, mostly, and although all reside in the Capitol, they only get together for official family events.Codeword: odair
July did have plenty of parental figures as a child, though, but it made her feel like the only one. She was the baby, constantly doted upon by her grandparents, until the grandchildren started to arrive. Old enough to recognize that attention was being leeched, July began to throw tantrums, to steal, to destroy precious things around the house. She went to kindergarten early, just so that her parents could have some rest.
It was easier once July was in school. Not because she acceled academically (not even close), but because she shone brightly in all of the social activities. Put her up on the stage and she became another person, one bright smile and coifed hair. She loved getting dressed up, loved the attention. And thus a little star was born.
She did as much in her free time as she could to cultivate friendships, even before she really understood the idea. What did know is that by being popular, she got things. Special presents from her friends. Favor from the teachers. Crushes to follow her and attend to her whims. Yes, it was a good life. And when she was finally old enough to start adding makeup and fine clothes into the mix - well, life was pretty perfect for July.
Adolescence treated her well, on the whole, once the surgeries were approved. She delighted in nothing more than spending her weekends sneaking around, partying and drinking and trying whatever else might come her way. And her best friends - who could ask for anyone, better, really? They opened so many doors for her.
Recently July has become a little more careless. Every time she wonders about the shape of a girl's lips, the smell of her, she throws herself at a guy. This is neither good for her person nor her reputation, but there seems to be no other way to distract herself. One night stands are becoming the norm, and if July isn't very careful, all of her dreams could unravel...
