Long lost soul ((open))

Mark leaned against a tree, painting a mental picture of what might be waiting for them in district 12. District twelve is the easiest place to break in and out of, but it's still best to keep ready.

He saw the people get ready to leave, then get up and begin hiking in the general direction of the twelth district. Did they think going back would be easier then staying?

The girl saw him before the boy did. She looked A little startled. Maybe a little scared. Mark inclined his head toward her. The boy looked possibly dangerous if startled, but Mark could hold his own against the teen. Definitely.

"Beautiful day isn't it?" Mark's muscles were relaxed, but not arrogantly so. The boy might try to shoot before thinking.

Mark watched the boy carefully. He didn't want to have to hurt him. Luckily the boy's sister had a skillfull tongue. The boy was extremely edgy, inching toward the knife he wished to stab Mark with. But she kept him reigned in pretty well. They thought he was a peacekeeper. He wasn't in the uniform of a peacekeeper, he was wearing a white shirt, and had a military style haircut, but he was definitely no peacekeeper. She snapped at her brother, threatening him with the fires of hell. By her appearance you wouldn't guess she had such a temper. Mark had learned not to judge by appearance a long time ago. That was what made him so cynical, so suspicious of everyone. "I'm not a peacekeeper Ella. My name is Mark. If I was a peackeeper you might as well have let him try to kill me. You would have both ended up the same." Death is what waited for everyone who was caught out here on the capitols land. Mark had this talent for being brief. Call it a blessing, but it was mostly a curse. His leader personality was sometimes overpowering, and intimidating. But in order to maintain order, sometimes this is needed. Sometimes it just dictates the seclusion of a leader. Mark didn't really mind the seclusion. He sort of sentenced himself to it anyway.

Mark listened as the girl completely broke down, talking about how it was best if she didn't live and how her brother should live and how she wanted to give him a brown book and have him show it to the Capitol she thought he worked for. She fell down on her knees, sobbing, and gripped a knife, seeming ready to commit suicide.

Mark had never. Met someone this on edge. He had met people driven crazy by the solitude in the forest, but she was sane, and still she was talking nonsense.

Mark watched her brother, waiting for him to stop her. "I don't work for the Capitol Ella. And death is not something in the near future for you. I work to free people like you from their clutches. Plus I am wanted nation wide. It wouldn't make much sense for me to go waltzing into the Capitol to turn you guys in." Mark wartched the blade. If she tried to kill herself and her brother didn't do anything about it, Mark would have to step knock her out along with her brother. He couldn't get to close to her without her brother most likely trying to stab him. So in order to preserve the wanderers life, he'd have to gas them both.

Mark was relieved when she relinquished the dagger and stood up. She seemed ready enough to believe his story, but Toby stared at his sister with all of the surprise in the world. Trying to warn her with his eyes about the danger Mark could still be despite what he claimed. Mark decided he liked that kid. Admired his cynicism. It reminded Mark of his own. That kid will last longer then most. Ella asks him how he smuggles, then moves on almost immediately asking Toby whether they were going back to district 12.

Mark watched them carefully. If they decided to go back, they'd be killed. Mark had every intention of warning them of this if Toby answered the affirmative.

So the boy decided not to go back to District 12. He was smart then. Then much to Mark's surprise, Toby asked him what he thought. Then Ella asked Mark if he could be thought of as a friend. Mark smiled at the teenagers. Of course he was their friend, as long as they were his. "If I told you to try going back to your home District then I would not be your friend. You made the right decision I believe, not going back. I've had several people decide to go back to their friends or family. They were executed on arrival. But you know you don't have to live on your own out here. I can bring you to the closest outpost if you would like."

Mark couldn't imagine someone wanting to return to slavery to the government, but that was beside the point. The point was getting these rouge wanderers a chance to join the rebels.

(OOC. I'm gonna give you Mark's description so that you don't have to go hunt for it. lol. ok. He's lythly muscled, and about 6'5". He is 27 years old, and tanned, yet not browned. He has military cut brown hair, and green eyes. His nose is very slightly bent from having it broken at one time, and popped back into place. He has a few scars, but not many. I think that's it.)

Ella avoided Marks eyes as she spoke, "we have no family back in district twelve. But we would like to go wherever you lead us as long as it's safe.". Then, out of the blue, ( as Mark was beginning to expect from this girl) she asked who he worked for. "I work for everyone.". Mark avoided the subject with a true statement. As he did not answer to everyone, but served all in a way. He was working for their freedom. Working for them.

"follow me." Mark suggested, then turned and slowly walked in the direction of camp. "The rebels welcome newcomers. But I would warn you, the welcome may be suspicious and slightly cold at first. Trust must be earned with this set of people. As Mark said this, he wondered if he was doing the right thing, leading these strangers to one of their bases.

She blurts out that she can be trusted. And asks who they would tell. The simple fact that she said this flared his distrust. But almost immediately he realized this was ludicrous. A spy would have had training how to act, and basically telling him that she could be trusted, would be unheard of. Mark noticed she was a little self conscious for some reason. He pushed it aside and waved them on.
"I am taking you to the people I swore to die for. I wouldn't bring you to them if I didn't trust you." or if he wasn't sure he could handle them if necessary. But mark left that part out.
