Even in the dead of winter, District Four was lucky enough to have heat. No, not the heat that comes from machines made in three or nine, or wherever, but actual solar heat. It felt fantastic for Serenity. She was ably to show off her oh so luscious curves, and it was the time of year when she shouldn't be able to do so. This truly was the best thing about living life in District Four, at least in Serenity's opinion. She was able - unlike pretty much every other district - able to keep her tan year round. Something that she was quite proud of.

There was the career training though. The training that was probably pointless, the training that would probably get her killed due to a cocky attitude if she was in the games, but it was the training she needed to do to keep her family's good name. Being rich in Four meant as close to a death sentence as possible. The honor of being in the games and all, sure Serenity bought into it, but there was some doubt in her mind. Yes, she was without a doubt hot, but she was small. To put things simply she did not have much force, she would be the midget career.

Still, there was no need to be thinking about the games right now. She was safe for at least another year. Some two people who Serenity did not know got sent of into the games. Probably would not win, at least that is what she thought. The girl was pretty good looking though, she'll probably have a chance. Serenity knew that looks only mattered for sponsors - not like that would be bad for her - but skill was always the prevailing factor.

She knew that training for the games was wrong, in fact, she despised it. She wished she would just know how to win without having to do anything at all to get to that point. If she had to go in this year, she would have. She would have died no doubt, but she would have brought honor to her already honorable family. If her mom and dad actually knew what she did though, they would not exactly want her as a child. She was not your perfect angel child, no matter how much her parents wanted to believe it.

There really was no reason for Serenity to be thinking about these things though. All she had to do right now was relax. The games were always a time of relaxing for Serenity. Sure she had to watch children get killed, but in a way, she was okay with that. Her training for the games made her not feel bad, unless of course it was it was a tribute from four. Still, the time off from school was nice also. Four was always a celebratory time during the games. Last year was no exception for Serenity when it came to celebrations; and yes, they involved a boy, a boy named Cristian. Those were some very good times... times that Serenity could remember vividly even to this day.

The warm, crust like sand molded around Serenity's skin, making what felt like a barrier between her and the rest of the beach. It felt nice to be secluded, in her own little world, all alone, except for the always warming presence of Cristian. Serenity knew that her 'relationship' with him would not last much longer, her friends would not allow that, so she intended on spending as much time as she could with the boy until that time. It felt like it was the right thing to do anyways.

His body caressed around her's created a circle with a twenty yard diameter around the two. Nobody wanted to interfere with 'young love' or have the little ones see older kids 'kissing' and other things like that. Just the look in his eyes let Serenity know that he loved her. It was a warming feeling to her, but also disheartening. Thank God somebody loved her, but it was satan's work that she would have to leave him heartbroken soon.

Moving in for a kiss she got more than that. Cristian was waiting for her lips to touch his before sending sparks off in her mouth. It was like heaven, people were probably watching the two, but Serenity did not care in the least. It was all about the moment, all until she opened her eyes and say Shantell - the queen bee of sorts - standing there watching the make out session, impatiently tapping her foot. No less she looked great in her bikini, but Serenity could only wish that her time with Cristiano was longer. But that was all she could do, wish, it never would happen.

Backing out of the kiss she turned her eyes up into his eyes. She wanted this to be quick and painless, but she doubted so. She knew he either loved her, loved her beauty, or was just infatuated. Whichever it was, it would not make her decision any easier. Pushing the thoughts out of her mind she just wanted to get it over with, "Look, Cristian, baby. I just... can't do this anymore. I don't want it to end this way, but I just... I... have no choice. I know it's cliche... but it really isn't you, it... it is me... I really wish it could be different, but it can't. I... I-I am sorry."

With her speaking part out of the way she held out her finger to his lips. She could tell easily how upset he was. It was just wrong what she did to him, yet she still did it. It was awful, she vowed to herself that from that point on she would stay with a boy if she thought that she had something special with a guy she would not listen to Shantall, even if it meant loosing her friends and all of her popularity.

Serenity especially remembered later that day Shantall ended up getting with Cristian. She wanted to say something, but who would back her up? Everyone in her click would probably have just ignored her claims even if they knew she was right. It truly was awful in those times. But now, she could just relax, be herself, and who knows, maybe catch another guy. Maybe this time it would be a guy that was special. Hot, but definitely someone who actually meant something other than being hot.

The mirror in the farthest bedroom to the back of that one-story, ramshackle house was tinted with the slightest thin layer of greenish grime that had unnecessarily accumulated over the years. A figure hurried past it several times, back and forth across the room, sluggishly looking for something that was obviously not there that had once been. It was not that the mirror was particularly neglected by any human contact - in fact, the object was used mostly every day - but rather it was just too difficult a job to clean. The reflective slide was framed by an old, ornately carved piece of wood, with each steady side crafted into twists and turns and patterns, and each inch of the surface holding its own unique texture. The entire structure of the object could only be described as random and obviously old and weak, but still it sat there untouched.

More random, perhaps, were the frenzied movements that Seaborgium Storstrand was making as he dashed around the room for another sock to wear. One of his large feet was already covered with one - undoubtedly a random sock that he stole from his brothers' room, as it fit too snugly around his foot - but there was not a match to be found anywhere. The room was already a mess of clothing and random items, but he almost always knew where everything belonged. If he ever needed to find a certain shirt, he would know exactly the position on the dusty floor the shirt would be sitting. If he had to find a sock, though, he would never be so lucky.

The ominously tall boy turned his head around, pausing for a few seconds to gather his bearings and perhaps give up entirely. It was then that he spotted the mirror and the small niche in the corner of the room that it stood in, propping itself precariously up on three wooden legs that were rotten and wearing away slowly from age and damp weather. He threw his gaze at the ground surrounding the weak wooden legs, but he caught an odd expression looking back at him that brought his gaze up to his own reflection. The quick, natural arch of his eyebrows suggested surprise at the first glance, but another second showed something else in his face that didn't seem to belong. The corners of his lips drooped ever so slightly - though the latter was normal for him - but his eyelids had fallen to the point at which they were half-closed and his eyes were no longer darting and searching for that one sock. He had only been looking for a few minutes, but never had he become so tired so quickly before. He was slowing down. It had been days since he had fully slept and gotten a chance to completely gather control over himself, but still he was going. It wasn't a big deal to him, the lack of sleep. It was just an unnecessary comfort that he would need to avoid. It was what his trainer wanted him to do - he was always preparing for the Games - and sleep did not fit into that plan.

"Be aware at all times, even when you're tired. You can't let your guard down." The words were still clear in his mind, though oddly enough Seah had no idea who had actually said them to him. It was simply one of those important lifestyle lessons that he was forced to learn and remember and take into habit, and all detail had long since faded away. Laziness and fatigue were unacceptable, and he knew it all too well. For the past four days, he had spent only about two hours actually resting, and the rest was powered with whatever coffee his father had left before heading out to the water without even saying hello.

His tired eyes glanced fleetingly towards his mattress to the right side of the room, but he quickly turned his attention away from it and the mirror and gave up on the search for a sock. He simply walked out of his room - one sock and all - and ventured into the adjacent tight hallway that led to the small kitchen. The entire house was constantly dim and dank, the feeble walls and windows doing little to keep the winter temperatures from finding their way in.

The noise was the first thing that tipped him off at his brothers' presence in the kitchen, and then he entered from the hallway and caught a sight of them, both tense and angrily arguing with each other as they always seemed to do. They were dark-haired and fair-skinned, both holding little to no resemblance whatsoever with their older brother. Unlike Seah's own lanky form, the two were seemingly monstrous - though a bit shorter by comparison - but obviously much stronger. They were stocky and clearly daunting to the average person, but to Seah they were still nothing but little babbling babies who whined and cried and ate too much for their own good.

A cacophony of furious words were being thrown around at every single direction, and for a moment Seah was worried that the neighbors would hear the conflict once again. All too often an angry neighbor would come by screaming and complaining about the noise. The houses were just too close together and the walls were too thin to allow much privacy - especially when arguments were constantly displayed in front of the entire neighborhood when controversy arose. The fighting was seemingly never important - hence the fact that Seah was doing his best to tune his brothers out - but the two always argued as if the world was about to end and and doom could truly be avoided, and they immediately needed to decide what to do next. In their misshapen, distorted bubble of self-awareness, they were both the boss, the guy calling all of the shots. They were both right and each had greater authority over the other. The fighting would never end.

Twins.

"I told you to leave her alone! But you couldn't! Come on, you didn't even LIKE her. You were just jealous, and you know it too! I had something that you DIDN'T, and you hated that. God damnit, why can't you just leave me alone? Fuck my freaking life." The raspy, thick voice belonged to the larger of the two twins, and it pitched awkwardly at every exclamation with a crack that was the most obvious example of his age. Every word was rounded and tainted with a bitter undertone, almost as if he had prepared his speech and thoughts before he had ever stepped into the room to confront the other. As melodramatic and interesting as the situation was, Seah only raised his eyebrows at the two and threw on his shoes and hurried out the door without remembering the cup of coffee that his father usually left him every day before departing.

A steady, chilling breeze was throwing itself uncomfortably away from the sea, still a great deal away from where his house was placed. The worst places to live in District Four were undoubtedly directly by the docks and far away from the water itself, as nobody wanted to smell the worst of the fish if they didn't have to, but they also didn't want to walk a great distance every day just to reach the water. The best places were spots of open shore where nobody usually docked their boats, and those people were lucky. They had the spectacular view of the water that most people in Panem did not, with only a few fishing boats in sight.

Unfortunately, Seah's home was one a great deal away from the water, but close to the building in which he often trained. It also happened to be the area that Peacekeepers avoided the most. The neighborhoods were generally poor and grotesque to the eye of, and they generally avoided any place near the training centers anyways. The Capitol didn't exactly care, as the entire populace in the city there clearly enjoyed the entertainment that a bit of ferocity brought with it. The Careers were the leaders, the entertainers, and the favorites of the Games. They trained to become instant celebrities and to bring pride to their families, and Seah had always planned on being one of them. It was difficult not to notice the joy in his parents' faces when he did well, and even more mentally overwhelming was their attitude when he performed poorly. Disappointing them was not an option, and so the thought spurred him into action immediately. He needed no sleep, no food, and no company of any sort. All that he needed was to train some more. So with the air whirring with an annoying high whistle around him, he picked his feet up faster and faster and faster, setting them carefully against the poorly paved road with each step.

The speed that he kept was fast and steady, and it was only minutes until he reached the shore. Completely avoiding the docks, Seah made a quick turn left and began to run on the sand when it first came into his view. Most of the surface was still damp from the rise of the tide, and wet sand settled uncomfortably into his shoes as every new stride caused him to sink lightly into the ground. His sock-less foot was irritated with every bit of new sand that crept its way in, but he only stopped when his muscles wouldn't allow him to go any farther and his foot felt as if it was burning. The water lapped softly at the shore as the boy plopped lethargically onto the ground, laying back and sprawling onto the sand and allowing his head to fall against the surface as if it were a comfortable pillow.

Dammit, how did this happen..

Why or how the boy fell asleep was unclear, but when his eyes propped open he wasn't exactly sure where he was. Falling asleep was an unimaginable event, because he had told himself that he would not under any circumstances close his eyes. He had just wanted to sit down, that was all. He had only wanted to rest, and he failed himself. What kind of tribute would he be if he let his guard down the moment he felt weak? He would surely die in the Arena, just like his uncle did. It could not happen again.

Obviously not much time passed by in his moment of weakness, but something was completely different about the situation. For one, Seaborgium was tensed for something completely dangerous to happen - clearly from the learned worry that there was trouble somewhere - but still the waves rose and retreated from the coast, and all was calm. Out of the corner of his vision, a tiny bit of movement sent the boy's eyes rushing to the right, and a lone figure was some thirty yards away. It was a girl, more or less around his own age. The image was striking at first, partly because he hadn't expected to see anybody there and partly because she could actually be described as pretty. It wasn't often that he spotted people hanging around the beaches away from the docks. Most of the population worked all day, and most teenagers went out to help their parents. Everything was empty during the day, except for the occasional stray teenager or rich kid who didn't need to work. Still, the surprise faded away momentarily and was replaced with mild curiosity, but Seah averted his gaze towards the sand and randomly began to run his hands through it while pretending like he wasn't even there.

Confrontation? No thank you.

Monsters are everywhere. Some are obvious; animalistic, beastly, and fierce. Others are discrete. You wouldn't be able to point them out in a crowd. You wouldn't be able to see it at first. For some, you wouldn't see at all. My monsters are not misunderstood. They are the monsters who do what the want and never regret what pain they cause others. They don't care, and never will. My monsters are the kind that wear plain clothes. They walk among us daily, and it's only fair that I acknowledge that I am one of them. I didn't want to believe at first, but after years of hurting others, I realized that I am a stick of dynamite. I destroy everything around me. I don't care of the people I kill, or the people that my actions hurt. I am a monster. I am Rowan.

The light is just beginning to pour in through the dark curtains that hang over the windows. Dawn. I never liked the sun much, because my father was always up before me. My father waits for me every morning, waiting to see what mistakes I'll make in casual conversation. I always make mistakes. I never care. Atleast, that's how it appears. I wish it wasn't that way, but I'm just a girl. I stroke the cream colored comforter that keeps me company in the darkness. I know that I'm seventeen. I'm also afraid of the dark. Maybe I'm just a girl. It's a far cry from the act that I put on at school. I love my comforter. My comforter belonged to my mother before it happened. Before she died and left me alone with a man who would forever hold me responsible, and who would forever try to force me into the Hunger Games. I have one more year before I either lose that comforter forever or I finally stand up to my dad. When I lose that comforter, I'll be dead.

I pull the blanket from me and force my limbs over the mattress. I know that if I don't go to training there's only one way to get forgiven by dad. I need to meet people. A day at the beach is not a punishment. Sure, there are worse things to do then meet boys my age. Yeah, he specifically mentioned boys. Hell, if one of those boys goes into the Hunger Games, I'll have a solid alliance. But I never really like anyone I meet. Guys my age are shallow. I'm pretty enough, but all I get is compliments on my petite body. I always worry that someone will match me eventually. That's my biggest fear. If a boy matches me, I'll lose who I am. I'll become a little girl. Those girls at school who swoon over the boys, I'll become one of them. Mystery is fun. I'll be the one getting hurt this time.

I'm under a curse, aren't I? I need to find someone to match me to make me right again. Make me vulnerable? I wonder sometimes if that was dad's intentions all the time. Was he trying to rid me of some demon planted inside my skull? Unlikely, he only thinks of me as a menace. I can't blame him for wanting to kill me. I'm a monster anyway. Anyone near me gets hurt, don't they? It's always been that way since my mother died. I am a monster. I've been pushing people away since then. Occasionally, I'll cave and fall for someone. They'll do the same. In the end, it all ends the same way. The boys get hurt and I become a bigger monster. Call me a cliche. It's just my way of coping. I never really mourned my mothers death. My dad never let me. He was always pointing the finger about how I should have done something. I knew my mom was dying, but my mind went blank.

I quickly throw a black tee-shirt and acid washed jeans. I'm done trying to be someone I'm not. I may as well scare off the beach goers today, huh? I don't touch my hair because I never wanted anyone to come close to me. Maybe I should stop showering as well. No matter what I do, people get curious. I'm a freak. A animal at the zoo. A monster that people underestimate. They want to challenge me. I have a big ego, yes. I'm not lying, though. I'm completely serious. I'm a monster.

I smile as I open the door. I make out the sound of a snore from my dad's bedroom. He must have overslept. I'm off the hook for now, but I know that he'll be pissed if I'm not being productive. I walk to the staircase, not bothering to be careful. My dad is a heavy sleeper. He won't be stirred by a seventeen year old girl who weighs less than most careers. I hate my father. He's the witch in my fairytale. I am the Beast. Now, where is my Beauty? He forced me into this twisted person who hides her feelings just to avoid more pain in her life. I wish that somehow I could be better. Be nicer. It will never happen, but it doesn't make me stop dreaming. There is always hope and I have to keep it alive. Maybe there is a boy (or girl) out there to love me. I hope for the best one day.

I reach the kitchen where my mother's pots and pans she brought to the house when she married my father still lay over the kitchen sink. We never use her pots and pans because it hurts too much for the both of us. We share different pain, but it's equal. He lost the wife he loved who he never had the chance to say goodbye to. I lost the mother I watched die while I sat there doing nothing. I understand him and know him more than anyone else in the world. He knows nothing about me except the fact that I am a monster. I love him, and I hate him. They're so far apart on the spectrum, yet so easy to confuse for one another. He isn't confused. He's never hidden his true feeling for me from me. He's told me countless times, and he slaps me enough to get it into my head. I guess I deserve it. He sees me as a monster and I see him dead. One day, my father will hit me and I won't be afraid to slice his throat open with a butcher knife.

I force a glass of milk down my throat and look out the kitchen window. The blue light of dawn is still there. It must be about seven in the morning. Still early for even the Hunger Games. I flip the screen on for the television sitting above the stove. There's a recap for the previous day's events, and another look at the anthem. Only five died yesterday, and plenty more will die today. They always do. The gamemakers will make sure the day is eventful for the Capitol viewers. I think about the District Four girl, Winona something or other. She's a slut. All the boys are rooting her on and the girls are waiting for her to die. Hopefully, she'll win just for the bemusement of the girls. She'll be too messed up from the Games to keep on whoring herself out. It'll be quite a coup for her.

Just then, I hear something stirring up stairs. I guess it's time to leave. Of course, I couldn't expect my dad to stay in bed that long. He always wakes up before me. I won't waste this chance not to deal with him. I grab my backpack from the back door and shove an apple inside it. I open the door in one swift motion and I'm in the salt filled air of District Four. The salt burns the lining of my nose, but it's the smell of home. I've gotten used to it. This place is one of beauty, and I can learn to accept that.

It's a bit of a walk to the beach, and most of it goes without incident. Occasionally, my thoughts will be clouded with memories of the people I've hurt in my life. I remember my mother. No days go by without me wishing that I could go back in time and change it all. I was a spoiled brat, and I never realized it. I always wanted more. I never gave anything up if I could have more. My house was big enough to fit everything I could ever want and I planned to fill it completely. I had to fill it with whatever I wanted. I never realized that we weren't as fortunate as the people in the Capitol. We never could and never would be. Maybe if I had, my mother wouldn't have died and I wouldn't be what I am now. I can't change however much I try. I need to find someone to change me, and I need to make it right.

The sun is shining over the blue water. It's a beautiful day, and hopefully it's just the beginning of it. Maybe I won't have to see my dad today. Hopefully he won't force me to spend the night watching some person die. It would be a relief for both of us if we didn't have to worry about each other screwing up again. I guess even if I am a monster, I can have fun for a while.

Looking up from her day dream - almost as if one cue - a boy appeared. Not exactly a boy that Serenity knew, but he looked to be about her age. He was pretty good looking too, something that Serenity took note of to flatter him with later. Why did she not know him though, didn't she know who everyone was. Well, at least everyone knew who she was. He probably heard that she was going to the beach that day and wanted to hang out with her. If only she used those few extra seconds to make herself perfect, if only she looked fractionally better. But what did she have to worry about, she was good looking enough as it was.

She had to remind herself to stop staring at the newcomer. He was just so hot... not to mention the fact that forgetting his name made him seem even more interesting. Why had the two never spoken before? If they were the same age, which Serenity was quite sure about, how did they not actually know each other. District Four was not exactly a small District, but one normally knows the majority of their grade, that was how it always seemed to Serenity. She always felt like she knew everyone; if she didn't then could would she know if she was talking to a weirdo. There was no way in hell this guy was weird though, it was just not possible, he was too hot to not be abnormal.

Serenity turned off her back onto her stomach in one swift, fluid motion. Not only was she doing that to even out her - already - flawless tan, but she was doing it to get a better look at the adolescent male that came onto her part of the beach. Looking at his full body Serenity really was amazed at how tall he was. It wasn't just that Serenity was exceptionally short for a seventeen year old girl, it was that he was abnormally tall. How was she supposed to kiss him while standing up? She'd find a way to make it work out, she always did when she was with boys, while the good times lasted at least.

Making sure not to look like an absolute creeper, Serenity had her head down. All she could see was sand, not the boy, not his shadow, just the coarse sand in front of her eyes. It was unfair, she wanted to see his beautiful face. She wanted to just take all of his looks in... but that isn't what a popular girl did. Even the accusation of her being a creeper would turn out awfully for Serenity. She had to keep her actions somewhat normal until she struck up a conversation with the giant.

Looking up again Serenity laid her eyes on another girl who happened to be around the same height as her, maybe a bit taller. She was clearly thinner then Serenity, but not as voluptuous. She was pretty, but not as dazzling as Serenity. She reminded Serenity of an uglier version of herself, though she never would actually admit that. Serenity was not too worried that this other girl -what was her name, Rowan - would catch the tall boy's eyes. She put her head down again though, she did not feel ready to draw the attention to herself though, not all of it.

Just as she was wishing to stay unnoticed a yawn escaped Serenity's mouth and her arms moved subconsciously upwards and came down outstretched above her head. The exact scene that she did not want to cause, yet it had happened. Instead of being phased by this she ended up using it for her own advantage. Pulling herself up onto her knees, then standing up ~~so she didn't look like a slore~~ she really got the picture of how tall other teenager on the beach was.

"Hey! Hey! Over here! Hi! How are you? You probably didn't see me!" She said all of this while waving her hand in the air. Of course he saw her, how could anyone miss the short, hot girl jumping up and down like a Chihuahua wanting food. It probably looked quite funny to anyone watching, the other girl on the beach might have been snickering at Serenity even. How dare she, but it did not matter. She was quite happy with herself to get the boy's attention, a simple, short reply would definitely make her delighted.

Delighted for the time being at least.

There was something about people that always made Seaborgium feel uncomfortable. Not all people really; he didn't have any trouble at all opening up to his family members or few close friends, though at times they still irked him. He wasn't exactly social, not on any level, and he always needed his time away from everything. His family, his friends, the jerks that made his life miserable in school; the boy could only handle so much. When he was with them, he said little. He wasn't exactly the opinionated type, so he always let people talk around him as he stood there with them, occasionally mumbling a few words to contribute. So it was really no surprise to him that he felt uneasy with the girl laying in another part of the beach, clad in a bathing suit and now facing towards him. A quick glance out of the corner of his eye showed that her attention was directed at him rather than completely ignoring him, and that fact caused his cheeks to redden slightly. He then proceeded to become very focused on the clouds above him as he lay back again, making it almost impossible to establish eye contact with the girl. She was small, dark haired, and thin - not to mention curvy, but the thought only embarrassed him more - and perhaps it didn't even matter. She was simply a random person that he hadn't met and probably would not care to meet. The way that she looked suggested that she was probably popular, and experience had showed Seah well enough that popular teenagers were relentless in their criticism.

"Why don't you ever talk?" was generally the question that people asked him. They did not care that he didn't exactly have an answer to the question, nor did they particularly care about how humiliated he always felt when the question arose. When he did not answer or answered with an, "Uh.." the laughter would start, and he would become some insignificant loser and all would start again the next time they spoke with him. Once they found that it bothered him, they would not leave him alone about it. There were no consequences for their actions - all the ominous Career did was walk away - and so they kept on with their bullying. It was always like that.

Another quick glance shot with his peripheral vision showed that the girl was no longer staring at him, so he allowed himself to relax without looking her way another time. The situation was no different than when he passed random students in school and awkwardly connected glances with them; definitely uncomfortable, but out of harm's way of talking with the person. Occasionally people would be polite and wave or say hi if they actually knew him by name, but the majority of the time was spent silent. Silence was Seaborgium Storstrand's next best friend, coming in a close second to his actual best friend.

The sun was out and the weather was nice enough for a day still trekking through winter, and the light rays of sunshine settled comfortably on the uncovered skin of his arms where the sleeves of his tee-shirt ended. He sat up again, still settling his gaze towards the sand and bringing his attention towards his aching feet. Soon the process of cleaning out his shoes began, and he worked carefully and slowly so as to keep his mind away from the figure who had not left the beach yet. He took the shoes in his hands and dumped the sand out, then did the same with his one sock. Setting everything to the side, he squished his toes through the grains beneath him, smiling as he found a small shell hidden among the light surface. He picked it up and softly took it between his fingers, but it crumpled from the tiny force and he let the fragments fall back to the beach. He couldn't help but glance again to see if the stranger was still there, and she was. Another small shadow moved to the side of him, and he turned his head to see another girl coming onto the beach as well. Again he looked away, obviously embarrassed; again he looked back up. Again he could not decide what to do. Another wave of curiosity found it's way into his mind, but his thoughts were interrupted.

"Hey! Hey! Over here! Hi! How are you? You probably didn't see me!"

Oh gosh..

'Surprise' was no longer the word for how the boy felt. Not only had the one girl looked at him and noticed him (when did that ever happen?) but she was actually saying hi. Seah was horrible with words on the best of days, and completely caught off guard he had nothing to say. An awkward five-second pause followed the random exclamation, and he couldn't help but turn his head to both sides and glance over his shoulder for the real target of her conversation. When it was clear that there was nobody behind him, he turned around again and quizzically blurted out all that he really felt the need to say.

"Hi."

Serenity was not sure about this guy anymore. Sure she never knew his name in the first place, so why was she even attracted to him. Yes, she got attracted to hot guys easily, but she always did know there names. Maybe she should take it slow, try to know this guy before being attracted to him. It would only take one real conversation before she actually knew whether she liked him or not. But no, she had to be the girl who always liked a guy before she even knew their name.

And to top it all off the guy was awkward too. How was she supposed to like a guy who was awkward. She wondered if he was gay, an instant turn off, but she forced the thought out of her mind. She could not deal with somebody that she liked being gay.

Maybe he was gay though, how would she know if he was. She never even had heard about this boy before, something that she found really quite odd, so why in the world was she here hitting on him... well, planning to hit on him. It was not like she was even sure about going through with this plan; she was going to get with a lot of guys anyways, why just try for this one. Normally Serenity was not one who was lazy about boys, yet she really did not feel like moving to go for others.

She was quite interested about this boy, and that was probably the most confusing part about the whole situation. She was not even that sure if she wanted to be interested in him, yet she still kind of was. Her mind always seemed to betray her in this way, it was not like she went out looking to like guys, it just happened. What was the point? It just made no sense to Serenity, not in the slightest.

Even if it was in her best interests to walk away she was long past able to do so. She could come up with some terrible line of BS and just walk away, but that would not exactly be that nice. When did she ever wonder about being nice. Nothing seemed to make sense for Serenity right now, acting in this somewhat decent way was not a part of her usual forte. Yet, apparently this guy did not know her from before, which could play quite to her advantage.

Was she just imagining that the guy looking at her did not know her? Thinking back a second she realized that she was just assuming things, probably because she was an ass to most, so normally a boy who was not looking for intimate actions would just have left already. The weird thing for Serenity was that this boy appeared to not want anything sexual at all. What The Hell. This world seemed way too complicated for Serenity right now; her normal life of partying was far simpler than this. There was really no thinking involved with that, but with this there was deep thought that had to go into every single different action.

All that was said to her was a simple, "Hi" no excitement, no exclamation; just a boring, uninterested hello. This insulted her quite a bit actually. Was she not being noticed? Nobody ever ignored Serenity, it always seemed to her that every single eye in the room was drawn toward her (though those thoughts were just a slight stretch). Just why was this boy so silent? Unlike many, he was not trying to get into Serenity's pants; actually something quite respectable, but just quite odd.

"You probably already know that my name is Serenity. I mean, everyone does. What I find odd though is that I am not familiar with yours? What is it?"

Just like usual, she came off as a cocky, self absorbed Bitch.
