A bright beam of sunlight shines through my window, hitting me square in the face. It makes my entire face warmer, which somehow comforts me. The chirps and cries of assent from my prep team across the hall allows my lips to curl up, bringing a smile to my face. Those little pigeons were funny and very quirky, but they knew what they were supposed to do and were reliable. They had been with me for my whole life as a stylist, going through all the ceremonies and interviews with me every year. This year, the Fifty-Fourth Hunger Games, brings a new batch of doomed tributes for my prep team and I to work on.
I've seen them on television, during the Reaping that changed both of their lives. I examined their bodies, their reactions, their personalities. I looked for different traits and stereotypes in them. I knew an immense amount of information just by watching them on TV. Now I know that they have a lot of potential. The girl, Topaz, is definitely a charming girl. It won't be any problem to make her look good. The boy is clearly imposing, but has a handsome factor as well. My mind already has a basic outline for their outfits in my head.
I will do my best. To make them look good for the Capitol before they die.
There was a high chance one of my tributes would come out alive, though. District One often had many victors. Mainly because of their training prior to the event, but sponsorship played a big role as well. Sponsors provided much needed food and supplies to their selected tributes, and they were a major asset. And the little kids had to look good for those sponsors. There is a lot of weight on my shoulders.
I can hear giggles in the hallway now, which means my team is probably done preparing the tributes. I stand up from my couch, and step out of the room. After greeting the team with a polite nod, I hold in my breath and walk into the girl's room.
