'Cause I'm Mr. Brightside.

But it's all in my head.
I feel I am an optimistic person, especially for living in the thirteenth district.
I might have some life experience of this over my seventeen years.
I am male, if you haven't noticed.
Open Up My Eager Eyes....
Korke's skin tone is relativley pale, as everyone else in his districts is. Hey, the do live underground, so it must explain the paleness. There is relativley no pigment in the skin, leaving it blank and ghastly pale. It is a very even skin tone, though, which is a benefit to his appearance. From looking at the places where the veins can usually be seen, they are very prominent against the skin tone.
His hair is dark brown, slightly chocolate in coloring. The color stays consistant within the whole amount of his hair, the same medium-dark brown. The hair dosen't have much shine, so it could be considered matte in the realm of hair. Korke lets his hair be longer than most boys his age, usually hitting the bottom of his neck. Bangs cover his forehead, and stick together to give a slightly disturbed appearance.
His face is an odd one, fairly top heavy and bottom, less so. Imporportionate, really. Starting with the eyes. The eyes are relativley large, causing an animated look on Korke's face. They are brown in color, a few shades darker than his hair. The eyebrows that frame these eyes are black and thick, curving upwards almost like a womans would, just more thickened. The nose is the next noticable feature, large and somewhat cartoonish. It curves at the end, ever-so-slightly. Not a nessicarily attractive nose by any means, it seems to be there just to be a nose, and dosen't add any facial beauty. In reality, it does just detract.
His lips are the smallest feature, causing the whole face to be off balance. They are slightly puckered constantly, and a shade of light cranberry. Small, dark, indents are on the outside of the lips corners, causing the lips to look more sunken in. His chin is thick and squared, causing his lips to look even smaller than they are. A slight cleft sits in the middle of the chin, making the chin more noticable, a trait he wishes he could hide.
His body, much like other people of his district, is slim but still able to properly have all functions needed. Though, the just-enough attitude of the food he was fed has stunted his growth, making him stand at five-eight. (He usually insists on adding the half part, though.) His torso is probably the most prominant part of his figure, probably due to the impossibly short legs he posesses.
He wears the same things as every other district thirteen dweller, though he dosen't blend in with the crowd. The small children mock him for his exagerrated appearance.
But its all in my head...
An extreme optimist, he believes that the glass is always half full, even when it is completley drained to the last drop. He likes to think on the bright side of things and have his positive attitude shine onto other people. He thinks that it will get him forward in life, taking an optimists approach to everything he does. In Korkes mind, everything has a positive side. Someone dies? He's still optimistic. Someone gets raped? A smile remains on his face. Its very annoying, the way he handles things. He seems to try to assure people everything will be alright, even though it will not. With a constant happiness, he attempts to assure very annoyed or irritated people of the positives in life, and why everyone should be happy. Constantly.
Korke, is pretty much useless in all aspects. While being an undying optimist, he is pretty stupid. The fact that his common sense is about the size of a bugs, and that he can't compute math problems or arrange things in a particular way. His mind is pretty much a vast wasteland of optimism, with no logic or facts hiding in it's crevasses.
So, he cleans for the district. Korke cleans up the messes in the mess hall, wipes the banisters down, and sometimes, when they are short-staffed due to disease, they will allow him to do the laundry. Korke, who is fairly good at following directions, will do these simple, manual tasks easily and quickly a majority of the time. But, about half the time, he chooses to rebel just a little.
With all the mental stimulation he can muster, he gets high off of the cleaning chemicals he is supposted to use for sanitizing. He will stick his nose into the said cleaning chemical and inhale, thus sending him into a place of more optimism.
Oh, and his imaginary lover. A world where his imaginary girlfriend, Lucette is. Lucette and him just walk around all happy and carefree, not caring about anything that other people think of them. Of course, Lucette is stunningly gourgeous and way out of Korke's league.
Of course, if Lucette was real. Oh, and Lucette changes genders to fit Korke's tastes in gender. Yes, he likes both sexes. He leans towards one one day, and the other, the other. Its simple as that.
His voice is actually quite pleasant, the singing one, of course. He can sing, and somehow hold a note without fracturing it into pieces, like he does with normal conversation. The voice sounds practiced with, like he takes effort to choke out the words.
I just can't look, its killing me...
Korke's family history has always been district 13 rules and expectations. Everything was strict and ordered in his household that he was raised in, mostly because his parents were important government scientists who didn't want kids. They were too busy with life as it was, they didn't want a child to throw into the madness. He would just be a confused toddler in a land of intellect and busy parents.
Yet, since they felt no other options. So, Korke Daimaru was born into two parents of high IQ's and low tolerance levels.
When he started to toddle around the small apartment-thing in the district, his parents were quite flustered with him. What to do with a child that probably was going to suck time out of their day? Of course, force him into a mold that would make him more intelligent.
In other words, send him to school earlier than usual. The perfect solution, so their son could be the most intelligent for his age and grade. So, with a slight push, they put their son into school.
He didn't know anything. His intelligence just wasn't there. It fell below the standards of the other children pretty much for a majority of his schooling. Finally, when they were sepearating people into groups of different skills and extended schooling, he was placed under the manual labor track.
But, to no prevail, he made the optimistic side of it! As usual,
But, he finally found something that made being put on the manual labor track better than science or arts. He got to inhale the fumes of noxious cleaning chemicals. And with a prideful joy, he found Lucette.
Let me go....
