Personality:
Refrain is average height at five feet four inches. In fact, most of her body is average: average weight, average curves, average shoe size. (For specifics, she's five foot five and about 130 lbs) She has curly purple tattoos snaking all over her lower back—a fifteenth birthday present from her mother. Refrain’s hair is a very pale blonde, and is shoulder-length and wavy. Her eyes are pale gray ringed with black, and she also has pale skin —when she’s not using some type of body dye to keep up with the fashions—dotted with freckles. Lots and lots of freckles.
Like most Capitol teenagers, Refrain dresses with the usual fashion. One thing that always stands out with her, though, is that she likes to wear outfits that leave her lower back bare so people can see her tattoos. When Refrain uses body dye, she’ll make sure it’s a lighter shade than her tattoos and complimentary as well. Her hair is usually up in whatever the newest hairstyle is, because she hates it getting in her face.
PB is Stefanie Scott.
Refrain is a very involved kind of girl. She’s involved with her friends, involved with her pets, and she cries at every Hunger Games when her favorite Tribute dies. Which happens a lot, because Ref has a soft spot for the underdog. Ref is a good person to go to with a sob story, she’s a good listener and very sympathetic. She loves people, and is never happier than in the middle of a party full of all her friends. Refrain also thinks the Capitol is being unfair to the Districts, but mostly she’s so wrapped up in her schedule she doesn’t have time to think about it.History:
Ref is interested in genetics, although she doesn't really understand how they work yet. Although it started out as just a hobby to flip through her father's notebooks when she was bored, she liked it so much that now she wants to make muttations for the Capitol when she grows up. She’s got a head for patterns and puzzles, and likes to make new things. Refrain also likes to try to draw (key word being “try”, she can’t really get the hang of it).
She’s a very trusting, naive person, and she can’t keep a secret or lie convincingly. If Capitol spies were to talk to her, trying to get secrets, she’d totally fall for it and tell them everything. Refrain also hardly ever gets angry, but when she does it’s accompanied by tears. She’s very emotional and sort of thin-skinned, she can’t take criticism very well. But she is very stubborn about things that mean a lot to her.
Refrain was born to a pair of scientists and raised in the Capitol. She first picked out her favorite Tribute when she was seven—before that she hadn’t really cared or understood—and was utterly crushed when the Tribute, a twelve-year-old boy, was killed the third night in. Her parents helped her get over it, but sometimes she still has jumbled dreams about him and her other favorites—also all dead.Codeword: Odair
Refrain’s next favorites were all the underdogs, from which her parents tried to dissuade her because they knew the ones she liked would die. Of course, it didn’t work, Ref being quite tenacious about some things. When she was thirteen, she had a brief semi-romantic relationship with a boy who lived down the street from their house, but it didn’t really work out. When she was fourteen, her parents had another child—Chorus, her little sister.
At fifteen, Refrain was asked out by a girl named Lucida, who went to the same school as her. She was deliriously happy, right up until the point where they had a huge fight. It wasn’t even over anything important, but it was bad enough that they decided to be just friends. She also saw a few people escaping from the Capitol the day before her sixteenth birthday party—but she didn’t realize exactly what it was they were doing until it was on the news the next day as a “missing persons case”. Ref hasn’t told anyone about that, but only because no one’s ever asked.
