Hero Bellew:
Training, training, training, in a hot, hot, hot day, I could feel the little dribbles make their way down the back of my neck. It tickled, and I had to stifle a laugh, a laugh that was just contagious, and it was kind of like a sneeze, if you don’t do it even after the feeling passes the need is still there. So I stood up, and took a long look around me. The sun was so bright, almost painfully bright, I entertained myself for a few minutes by just glancing at the sun. A little explosion behind my eyes flared every time I glanced upwards, the pain made me feel alive. Then I rose my chin and inspected the other careers around me, a few of the bigger boys were lifting weights, the younger ones were learning to swing a weapon for the first time. Acrobatic girls were flipping and stabbing imaginary enemies.
It was all very exciting two of the bigger boys get’s into a lift off; at a weight that I didn’t think would be so heavy the first guy started to row the boat, the next time they did a rep he was done. The older boy was immediately circled by lesser careers, the ones who didn’t really have a chance of hacking it in the games. Course, it was my turn next, not that any of them knew it. Anyway, I must have looked kind of silly, just thrusting behind my shield, but in the games ,if my shield connected, I know I’m knocking someone over. Yet, no one ever got the drills my trainer assigned except for me and him.
All the bustle of the crowd made me stand up and walk over to the fuss. The boy in the middle, I realized was one of the pride and joys of the district. Another great in the line in of D1 tributes, but volunteering wasn’t a skill. It was luck and reactions, something that I was pretty sure I had on my side. Resentment, that’s what I felt towards him, but I just watched as the admiring glances poured in, jealously bubbling over the top of my head. Above all the congratulations you could hear a name, Kellen…Kellen…so great Kellen. There was a girl nearby; hovering outside the circle was unusual for girls, so I walked up to see why there was a concerned look on her face.
((Sorry for the suckey post, tell me if you think it’s Powerplayin, if so my bad))
