Days had become routine over time to Eshan Wilde. Every day he woke up at the early hours of the morning, when the sky bore barely any signs of the sun that had just begun to rise, adjusted the cloth on his leg, changed out of the clothes he had slept in, (which were usually the same ones he wore throughout the day) and he worked on the ranch. Aside from eating and the occasional bathing, there was little else that the twenty-year-old ever did.
And so, Eshan already had his mind set in the firm idea that this day would begin and end in the exact same way. That morning, by the time his eyes were opening and his hands were throwing off the sheets from his body, the sun was already shining down brightly, illuminating his room. It took him a moment to realize this, though, as he put on his shoes. When his mind absorbed that there was far too much light, his entire body went rigid, as if expecting something to go entirely wrong. He listened to his surroundings closely, alert in case there was any issue.
However, all he managed to hear was the unusual, happy sound of chatter and cutlery coming from his kitchen. It was strange, how his parents hadn’t waked him up like they normally did when he slept in. Sure, they complained every time, about how his body needed the rest, and how energy was necessary for living, and facts that, whether they believed it or not, he knew. But what would happen to the ranch if he didn’t help? Hell, the animals were now even spoiled. In fact, the day before he’d spent half the night attempting to nurse a small injury on a hen’s wing, but the hen was nervous, and it’d tried to peck its way out of his hands.
Now he understood why his parents hadn’t bothered to get him up, but really, what was he supposed to do? After a reluctant sigh, he hurried to the kitchen, where his parents explained in full detail (it was rambling, honestly…) how he really did need some rest, and how they’d taken care of the food and water of the animals. Eshan attempted to complain during breakfast, but he was just ignored every single time.
And so, he ended up with free time. He wasn’t sure –no, he didn’t know, what he was supposed to do in a day like this. After simply feeding the cat, he decided to go outside, to just see if he could entertain himself for a bit. That was how Eshan Wilde had ended up in the streets of District Ten, his hand griping his cane tightly, in fear that it would be stolen from him. His limp stopped him from walking around for too long, so soon enough he sat down on the sidewalk, his eyes scanning everything from the people to the stores. Ah, he could learn from this experience.
