Appearance:
You wouldn't know it to look at her initially, but Fang is strong. She's about 5"2' and curvy, but beneath all the -ahem- padding is all hard, lean muscle. She prefers to wear baggy pants and tight shirts mostly because she thinks it's more flattering. But she NEVER wears shoes. Often times she comes home with black feet. And much to the chagrin of her mother, her nails are horrifying. Long, chipped, dirty and thoroughly displeasing in essentially all ways imaginable.Personality:
Her skin is typically clear and lightly tanned, a slightly uneven gold-beige color. It seems lighter in contrast to her dark auburn hair, which is unruly and wavy. Her eyes are almond-shaped (and a tad too wide, so she says) dark brown, and shot through with streaks of gold. She's quite a bit thicker than most of the workers, but overall she's somewhat pretty.
Though she has some redeeming features, Fang is covered in scars. Arms, back, legs, neck, face, you name it. The most noticeable are the burn scars and whip marks across her back and cheeks. Most prominent of THOSE are the three lash marks straight across her left eye. These are livid, dark red and make it extremely hard to look her in the eye. Some are fresher than others (the fresh ones are positively revolting, most of the time), but they all look mostly similar.
'Doesn't play well with others' would be a fair description. Not that Fang would mind. She's largely solitary and really doesn't mind to much. She's not wholly alone, mind you. But enough in her own view.History:
Truly, she's not a bad person (though she has stolen when desperate, particularly in the past few months and has been whipped for it). Fang is actually more moral than most people in her district. She can't stand watching people be hurt, be it verbal or physical. She's not afraid to show it either. Fang has a rep for stepping into fights whether she thinks she can win or not. She's pretty reckless that way.
Being as anti-social as she is, you'd expect her to be quiet. She's not. Fang is loud and proud. She tries her best to defend those who can't do it themselves. She stands up to bullies and the occasional Peacekeeper (note the scars). This isn't to say Fang is without good sense. She just retains a severe lack of judgement.
Through everything though, Fang will never stop refusing to give in. Even if it tends to get her in trouble. This is something she does frequently, as she finds it entertaining and really doesn't mind the consequences. She's frequently whipped by Peacekeepers, but doesn't mind since she knows things could be a lot worse.
Fang isn't very confident, but also tends to ignore her limits. She often figures that if it's her moment to die, then so be it. Fang is not fearless (she has a very powerful case of arachnaphobia), but she is for the most part desensitized to several things, like other people's emotions. This makes her come off as callous or often capricious, but she typically doesn't mean to hurt anybody. When she realizes she's done exactly what she's tried to prevent, she hates herself and goes off to further her pain tolerance (typically cutting herself).
Fang has scared her parents nearly to death and has been told as much 37 times since last week. So you can imagine what a lot of her childhood was like.Codeword: Odair
Ever since she was 7 she's been basically going about getting into fights. Back then, however, it was typically because she just wanted a fight.
That changed the day she met her best friend. He was being beat up by this one bully who never seemed to know when to quit. Then again, she was never much one to talk. Anyhow, she tried to beat him down. But he'd gotten a lot better since last time. He kept throwing her down. She was dusty, dirty and bloody. Yet she kept on getting up.
Eventually, the bully got bored and left. Fang staggered to her feet and held out her hand to the boy, who was no better off. She half-pulled, half-dragged him to his feet and walked (or sometimes crawled as the case had been) him home.
Not long after, they were inseperable. Sadly, that meant he saw many fights. He finally got tired of it and asked why. Fang pondered this and said it was fun. Then she recalled the day they met. She never said it aloud, but she knew that fighting just to fight wasn't justified. Her friend never saw another fight just for fun after that.
She's been helping her dad catch fish and selling them at market since she was 7. Fang has also spent lots of time trying to toughen up, seeing as how she's technically a Career. She'd entered many tesserae since she lived in a family of WAAAAAAY too many. She'll tell you that often enough. She doesn't complain much though. Just her usual stoic self.
