Last night, I saw the face of two other tributes: The girl from district two and Noelle. Seeing her face makes me go crazy because I wasn't able to protect her. Why her?! I'm the bad one! I'm the thief and the horrible rebellious one! Why can't the world take it's anger on me instead!... No, it's punishing me by taking those I love and that's worse then death. Now, I have to win, for them! The anger and sadness inside has turned into a new source of strength that I intend on using.
That was just the first part of my night. When I tried to get to sleep, a horrible itching sensation took a hold of me and I couldn't help but scratching it. When I opened my eyes to inspect what it was, a giant mosquito a little bit smaller then my palm laid on my skin. The shock from it made my swat around in hopes that I could avoid it. This eventually lead to them chasing me. I could only swat at then aimlessly with my sword, and I don't think I've even gotten an attack on a single one. This has caused me to wander... well, run around until the mosquitoes went away. But by the time they've stopped biting me, it was already morning and I knew that I had to move.
After walking through a sea of endless sand and unbearable heat, another dot appears a distance and I run towards it thinking it may be something important. The heat won't get to me, or at least I try not to let it. If I get thirsty I can just drink the water; I have three full jugs anyways. Also, I have the cactus from the oasis if I get hungry. I'm pretty sure it's edible anyways.
When I reach the area that used to be a dot, I see destroyed houses. I was hoping for another oasis somewhere, but I suppose it will do fine as far as shade goes. Going behind a piece of wall, I sit in its shade to get rest from the blazing sun.
Just as I'm relieved to find shade from this heat, I hear something crumble and when I look up, I see a large piece of eroded wall about to fall on me. My reflexes tell me to try and dodge it, but I'm not fast enough, so when I try to evade it, it end up hitting my back. I let out a squeal of pain as it bruises me. Just as I scream a bit, my body cringes as I hear a footstep. My heart races and I don't dare move. What if it's a mutt sent to kill me, like Noelle... Slowly turning my head, I look behind my wall to see that it's another tribute. Oh how Karma hates me. It's the boy from district nine. Maybe we could be friends?.. No. Now is not the time for compromise, it's time to attack.
I get my sword out, ready to face my attacker, and even death if needed.
