They kept calling her a party crasher, whatever that was. It had been so foreign, so new. People all around, laughing, smiling, socializing, maybe dancing to music. Antimony thought at the time that there was music. It felt like it, at least. She had imagined the notes playing through her mind, the tune ringing in her ears, even though music was a rare thing. Maybe it was there; maybe it wasn't.
Antimony liked to think that it happened that way. Like it was a dream, a piece of heaven. And it was, remembering it. Not many people talked to her, but they had been busy. She knew better than to bother the partying teens, so she had kept to herself. Hummed, eaves-dropped, smiled at her friends when they moved by. But it wasn't all so bad, she had made one friend that day, and they were to meet today.
Another nonexistent song played inside of her head. Beat, beat, beat, beat, it played to the steady sound of her heart. Her toes curled in her shoes, tapping the pavement below while her knees did a jig. The bench below her was the stage, everything was a stage, and she would dance. Lightly or ferociously, it didn't matter how. Her heart still sang along.
Antimony was usually patient, but today she scanned the area constantly. Waiting was such a bore, even if she had music to play to herself. The need to dance and wiggle and frolic around couldn't be settled with her toes or knees; she wanted more than that.
It only took another minute, thankfully. Antimony leaped up from her seat and twirled around Essence once, her messy curls swinging around her.
"Oh, hi! I was waiting for you," she said, bobbing on her toes like a child's bouncy ball.
