over the sea and far away,
she's waiting like an iceberg,
waiting to change.
but she's cold inside,
she wants to be like the water.Why would Aeron had known if his sister was involved with the recent, district three, male tribute, "Gage Cooper." Aeron didn't know what his dad was saying to his mom while they were leaving the reaping. Although they were barely talking, they still communicated. Aeron had heard his dad murmur something about Katie and him... Aeron had to visit him. He had to, and he did. There was still so many things he didn't know about Katie, and so many things he needed to know. Gage was one of the last people left who ever payed attention to Katie Morven - as far as Aeron knew. Aeron really never knew if anyone liked his sister. Obviously, this Gage person did. Whether they were friends or more, his dad thought he was important enough to bring up in a conversation. And honestly, when he told his parents, "Mom... Tom, I'm going to go visit... someone. Gage - for Katie. I need to." it wasn't because he felt like he needed to, he sort of wanted to. But he had lied a bit; he wasn't only going for his deceased half-sister, it was for himself.
Every time he though of Katie, it was how she hogged all the attention from his birthday, and the fact that she got so far in the games - to make it possible for Aeron to never get reaped - only to make him even more sad, not that Aeron was ever a sad person. Aeron decided, knew, he had to find something about Katie that would make him happy. Aeron needed some reassurance that she wasn't just some stupid person that ruined his life. Aeron needed a reason to believe that there was nothing wrong with her. Gage could help Aeron achieve this goal.
"Sorry to stop your conversation, but can I head home first?" Both his mom and his... Tom, nodded. He ran, sprinted to his small, red house. Reaching around in every drawer, every bin, every shelf, every table-top, and every closet, he found nothing he could give to Gage (unless he wanted Aeron's old teddy-bear). Frustrated, he stomped out of his house to see his mom walking towards him. "Mom, the house is a mess, don't ask." She looked at him and nodded her head. Perhaps she thought it was silly that he was jumping to talk to a guy he didn't know, who she barely knew, too. Maybe, Aeron was stupid for doing this. Aeron had never encountered this boy before, why would Gage want to talk to him? Surely, if Aeron told him who he was, Gage would talk to him. Hopefully, Mr. Cooper was someone willing to give chances.
But Aeron was always the type of person to be naive.
Suddenly, Aeron already has a bunch of questions he wants to ask Gage, starting with, "Was Katie Naive?" and ending with "Are you naive?" Of course, Aeron has no clue, and those are the questions that matter the least. But sometimes, knowing all the right questions is more important than knowing all the right answers. The Justice Building was right in front of Aeron. He wanted to look relaxed, and he was, but he was still nervous. What if Gage hated Aeron? What if Gage hated Katie? Walking mindlessly, he hadn't realized he was standing in front of a peacekeeper. "Can I go in, or..." Aeron stared at the peacekeeper, not bothering to look at his eyes. Instead, he looked at his features. Big ears, thin lips. He tried thinking of things that wouldn't' intimidate him. "I'm here to see Gage Cooper." Aeron spoke flatly. "He seems like a favorite." Aeron started walking, wondering what the peacekeeper meant. Surely, someone else had came to visit him, why else would the guy say he was a crowd favorite. "Who said you could go in yet? He still has a visitor." You never said he didn't have a visitor. Aeron dare not transfer his thoughts out loud; the peacekeeper could pummel him to the ground and get him in trouble for being all rude to him.
Finally, a blond-haired girl left the building, which was practically a concrete signal that Aeron could enter the room, unless it was for the female tribute. "You may now enter." the wait didn't seem too long, but he didn't have much time left to talk to Gage. "Thanks..." Aeron respected the peacekeeper, and flashed him a smile. Aeron walked in the room to see a brown-haired kid, probably around seventeen and not much taller than him. Aeron thought he looked fresh, inviting, not-intimidating at the least. But for all Aeron knew, Gage could be some mean, vicious cannibal. Doubt that.
"Hey, uh- Gage. My name is Aeron Hone. My sister is... was... my half-sister was Katie Morven." Aeron hopes that Katie wasn't like, the most super-awesome person to him; Aeron didn't want to make Gage upset, but he didn't think much. He just did. "We don't have much time left, Gage. I just want to ask you some things," - putting in a chuckle because it seems so staged - "starting with: what were the good things about... my hal- no, my sister. What were the good things about my sister." Aeron would no longer accept the fact Katie and him were half-siblings. He felt a connection to her, something that felt powerful. They were simply siblings. Brother and sister. Except, they really didn't have the same family.
Technically, everyone was a family. The first people in the world (male and female) would of had kids, and their kids had kids, and those kids had kids, and etc... So really, Aeron was talking to his brother, if you think like that. Wouldn't life be much easier if everyone was a family? People wouldn't kill other people, really. The capitol would be good friends with district eleven as of district one. People from different races would accept the fact that they were all the same at the end of the day. Everyone being a family meant peace (probably). And if there was peace, he wouldn't be here talking to Gage today - the hunger games were not example of peace. Also, if the hunger games didn't exsist, and there was peace, Aeron might have been able to meet Katie Morven. Because after all,
peace means no divorces.all the muscles tighten in her face;
buries her soul in one embrace,
they're one and the same,
just like water.
