Melanie Holland
Innocence
Sunk the glow and drowned in covers
Send for all your absent lovers things
Sheepish wolves
Looking lived-in, eating buttons
Wink, just don't put your teeth on me
Some people would say that Melanie was a rather pretty girl. Not beautiful, but the type of pretty that in passing, people would regard with a lookover and ignorance. She's the type of pretty that is there but not overwhelmingly so. Beggining with a mop of wavy blonde hair that sits on the top of her head and spirals all the way to where her shoulders end. Her bangs are cut rather choppily, and if it is from nessecity for career training or if it is out of absentminded vainity, we shall never know.
The facial composure of Melanie is rather blank. The forehead is rather large, which is why she tends to mask it with her thickly cut golden bangs. Her eyebrows are naturally thick, and she takes the tedious time to yank small hairs out of the eyebrow line. Beneath the curved eyebrows sit rather large blue-green eyes, something that she considers to be her best asset. Though, makeup tends to coat the said eyes, with mascara being on the eyelashes and eyeshadow being applied thickly to her eyelids. Melanie's nose is rather straight, and what some people would consider a straight, greek style nose. Her lips are rather small, something she wishes she could fix without having capitol-esque treatments to fix them, so she leaves her lips alone.
Melanie is a rather muscularly built girl, due to the years of career training that her parents have invested into her. Her legs are the only exception to this rule, since they are scrawny sticks that she'd rather not discuss to people. She is unable to run particuarly fast due to the lack of muscle tone in the legs, but she just accepts that fact because she has to.
Accidents
Let the evening in the back door
Filled the room
Ceiling to the floor
Beat backbones
Grazed the poem and made it strange
I wasn't born to be a skeleton
Melanie believes that she should be adknowleged as the most important person in the room, the person who should recieve the most attention. Her mindset is all driven by this one fact, and that being that she acts completley stupid. She tries to embody the stereotype of stupidity, which includes adorning herself with as much makeup as possible, by pretending not to understand things, and even at times, sarcaficing her mental and physical health to allow people to believe that she is a stupid person.
All of this is stemmed off the thought that she is an absolutley brilliant person. Her intelligence level is somewhere in the geniuses column, and while she keeps this intelligence hidden, she usually uses it to her own benefit, to organize her next plan of attack within the form of making people believe that she is unintelligent as she acts. This means she is constantly analyzing her next move, consistantly keeping in mind what could happen next, who could find out her secrets, if she were to make one false step and blurt out something intelligent.
Her acting skills, due to this extreme exersize of her mental and physical health, are top notch. She believes that she could slip at any moment, but most of the time, she is able to stay in character without a flip of the switch.
Though, the negative concequences of her actions definatley outweigh the benefits she may have. Due to the perfectionism she demands from her acting skills, she figures that to be considered an airhead, she must follow the guidelines of being one, which usually involve being an alchoholic and sex addict to some extent. The alchohol tends to make her an angsty wreck, making her break down at times, but she feels the compulsive need (to almost an OCD point) to make sure that she, Melanie Holland, is considered an airhead. So she forces the alchohol down and lets herself go into the oblivion of stupidity.

Jealous orchard
The sky is falling off the ceiling
While I'm tucking fibs into a cookie jar
Reverie
It's useless searching in the cupboards
When everything you have is on your back
Melanie was born to a Military leader and his wife, a woman from district six who served as an army medic. The normalness of this family situation was soon knocked down by the overly intelligent, bubbly little girl that came into their lives four years after her birth. Because, even at the age of four, her outstanding brilliance made Melanie's parents cower in fear of what she could do if she really attempted to do something around them. What if she were to get a mind to hate the hunger games? So, at the youngest age you could begin someone in career training, five, they decided to get some hunger games fire pumping through her veins and made her into a career tribute, and a young one, at that.
She went through the years, being known as the overly intelligent career tribute who the adults admired but the children hated. She lacked the social skills to engage with people her own age, so she resorted to reading books and doing things that require little to no social activity, and she was fine with that. Living in a world like that was completley fine for a twelve year old Melanie.
Well, at least until she turned fifteen. Fifteen year old Melanie would prefer socialization to isolation, and she was done with being pushed to the side, being known as the perfect little girl. So she slowly began to make a 360 in her personality, actions and appearance. Gone was the greasy hair, instead, she washed it every day and brushed it to a golden sheen. Instead of the thick rimmed glasses, she donned thick mascara and dramatic eyeshadow. Instead of tucking her nose into a book when a boy talked to her, she would try to reply back with a light banter. Melanie Holland was a fabulous actor at this, and pretty soon, she began to see that the behaviors that people gave her when she acted a little less smart than she was were much kinder, and required much less effort for her.
She began to intensify the behaviors of herself, adding more mascara to her eyelashes, acting stupider around the people who knew her, drinking too much at parties and social gatherings of any sort, wearing shoes that only a capitolite would don when she really could of settled for sneakers. Pretty soon, people had forgotten the old Mel, and embraced the stupid, alchoholic, all around airhead Melanie Holland.
