The armored truck was new to me. I was used to horses and wagons, not something that runs on gas. I can feel us coming to a complete stop, and then the sack is removed from my head. The doors on the back of the truck open, and sun bursts in. My hand provides no protection from it's burning rays, even when I try and cover my eyes. I need to block out the sun. This is my only chance to get a good look about what I have to deal with. My eyes adjust, and I see the small building. It looks like it couldn't fit very many people, but then I remember about the announcement.
The new detention center will be impossible to escape. The fence is at least 30 feat tall, and buzzing with electricity. Do NOT get cocky. It could cost your life.
The broadcast on the t.v was so vague. It left no details other than the point that if you run, you die. I look at the fence, and see it's linking chains, which are vibrating with electricity. It's topped with razor wire which could probably cut my skin with ease. They push me through a small door in the fence, and then I'm patted down. They open huge metal doors, and usher me inside. I take a look back, just in time to see it closed. It's going to be weird being away from the outdoors. I'm ushered down a long hallway, and down a large elevator. If I wasn't about to be locked up, I'd ask for a second ride on the elevator. It's so high-tech compared to the things back home.
The elevator stops abruptly, and I'm pushed out into the hall. I can only see a staircase in the room. I'm pushed towards it, and I trip down the first few steps, and I hit the wall.
"So my torture begins now boys?"
"Shut up and keep walking prisoner."
"As you wish."
I reach the bottom of the staircase, and I can see the cells now. One of the guards walks to the front of one, and opens it with a key. He throws me in, and I trip, hitting the hard cement floor.
"See you at dinner boys."
"Shut up!"
A smile crosses my face. Good. I might as well make them hate me while I'm here. The cement is cold so I get to my feet to avoid the contact with my bare skin. My eyes lock on the top bunk, and I grin.
"Dibs."
I laugh because I said it out loud. Nobody can hear me. Why am I talking? I head towards the beds, and I throw myself onto the top. I could just sleep it out.
Yeah. That sounds good.
