Jaimie stormed out of her house, slamming the door behind her. It was dusk. She had finished her homework and her chores. She had worked her butt off all day, and then her mother came home. It had obviously been a bad day at work. Her mother's fists were clenched and she was walking stiffly. Julie, Jaimie's older sister, was sitting next to her. Her mother set her things in the corner of the room and sat down next to them. "Jaimie, can you please go to the market and buy some groceries?"

Jaimie sighed. She had worked all day at school, doing homework, and then helping their neighbor move wood into their house. She really didn't want to do more work. "Can Julie do it?" She said tiredly.

"No. I'm busy." Said Julie as she kept reading her new book about high school drama and vampires.

Julie rolled her eyes. Her mother looked at her. "Please just do it."

"I'd rather not."
"Now."
"No!"

Julie usually would have done it but she had had a bad day too. Besides doing all that work, after school she was given a black eye by a boy who wanted money. Of course, this wasn't new to her, but still, it sucked.

"Now." Said her mother. "Or you can be grounded to home after school for the next week."

Julie growled. "Fine." She stomped out the door. But she was mad. Extremely so. She decided, just to piss her mother off, she'd take as long as she could. So she did what she usually did when she was mad. She took a trip to the woods. She knew she wasn't supposed to be in there but she liked it there. It was quiet, mysterious. She had explored some of it but not a lot. She was walking, grumbling some inappropriate language under her breath, and staring at the sky as she walked. And then she tripped over someone. She screamed slightly as she fell and looked back. The thing she had tripped over was a girl. She gasped slightly. A wanderer.
