Name: Gaius Augustulus Longinus (Just Gaius or Guy will do)
Age: 18
Gender: Male
District/Area: Capitol
Appearance:

Opting for the more natural look that seems to be so prevalent around the Capitol lately, Gaius’s complexion is rather fair. He’s somewhat on the tall side, with a lean frame to match- no need for rough, uneven patches of muscle like those dull District citizens. Against the preference of his parents, Gaius wears his hair long. He shares the chocolate-brown shade of his hair with his father, but little else- for example, while his father had quite a beard by Gaius’s age, Gaius can’t seem to grow more than a bit of stubble.
At first glance, most men and women (the latter especially) will catch a single thing about Gaius: piercing blue eyes. Their natural intensity leads some to believe them to be works of Capitol surgery. Strangely enough, Gaius never liked them; in the mirror, he finds his own stare irritating. Deep, perhaps, but abrasive, and almost angry-looking. This is what people see when they look at me? Ugh!
Clothing options are never limited in the Capitol. Though his favorite is pink, he has a selection of immaculate suits in quite a few colors. For more… casual affairs, he dresses somewhat like a choir boy- black slacks, a white button-down shirt, and a black buttoned vest. His voice is very upbeat and very Capitol. He puts more emphasis on consonants than vowels as he speaks, and barely moves his mouth (except on the rare occasion of anger).

Personality:
Gaius seems to breathe confidence. Whether he’s wearing the mystifying smile or the blank stare he seems to enjoy switching off between, poise and panache are constantly evident in him. Ever the “sticks and stones” sort, words never seem to waver him. Gaius almost never uses words to break others down, either- he much prefers building them up. Not only is encouragement more persuasive, but it’s also less likely to backfire, leading to his first life lesson:
“Play at people’s strengths, not their weaknesses. Their strengths are stronger than their weaknesses!”
Strengths and weaknesses were never something Gaius had a difficult time picking out, either. Scanning everyone he meets with his mystifying eyes, he’s an excellent judge of character, and scrutinizes every personality he comes into contact with. Being observant and analytical has always done him good; he makes a habit of keeping his eyes trained on the ground for coins and such, and sometimes finds things of… even greater value. This applies emotionally as much as it does physically; though he doesn’t like abusing faults, he’s excellent at finding them, making his second life lesson something that applies not only in homes and buildings, but also in hearts and minds:
“Look for things- sometimes things are there.”
He can be quite a remarkable person when he wants to be- unfortunately, he’s just a bit too aware of it. He loves his friends, but he loves himself. He’s not quite as selfish as he is conceited, and even then, he rarely shows it. Though he keeps most of his thoughts of superiority to himself, he acts on them silently. When he thinks something isn’t going the way it should be, he’ll take it upon himself to make it right (or get others to make it right). He’s always been meddling and domineering, and in some of his less-calm moments, melodramatic about things, making his third life lesson somewhat questionable.
“You’re only seeing the world through your eyes; you’re the only thing you know is real.”
In short:
“Play at people’s strengths, not their weaknesses. Their strengths are stronger than their weaknesses!”
“Look for things- sometimes things are there.”
“You’re only seeing the world through your eyes; you’re the only thing you know is real.”
History:
Capitol births usually mean the advent of one of the happier lives in Panem; as in District 1, some of the Capitol’s upper crust barely has to work. Since his first day, the fact made Gaius wonder why he had to be there. I can learn whenever I like, he thought, Why do it here at such a slow pace? Only the social element kept school interesting for Gaius- he was good at most everything in school (except history of course), but that was where he would truly shine.
Was it because of his looks? Was it because of his persona? Or was it simply the way the two came together? Most would say they didn’t care, but he did; and it played straight into his hand. He learned how much appearances meant to those around him, but also how delicate their emotions were. All useful tidbits in a rough situation, he supposed. Despite his bittersweet acceptance of ‘education,’ his thirteenth birthday made him feel he needed a bit more to do… leading him to invent a talent he dubbed ‘obtaining.’
No, it wasn’t stealing- not all the time, anyway. He studied the finer points of gathering interesting things (usually physically- he could already handle people easily enough). He learned to frequent places that many people passed through, but no one ever stayed- places where car accidents happened, places where other men of wealth adorned their lawns a bit too thoroughly… just places where there were things to be had. And supposing they either had no more owner (or no more vigilant owner), they were his. A certain distaste for Peacekeepers began to spring from it, but he wasn’t a bad person for that… was he?
