Ammon isn't what you'd call a big man - rather, he's long and lean. With all his work down in the forest lifting lumber and chopping trees with his father, he's developed himself a strong set of muscles. However, after an incident in the woods with his sister when he was ten, he was left with limp and a deep scar on his right leg. Standing at a good 5'10, he's a few heads below the crowd, but that's never stopped him before. Ammon boasts a slight tan as well; being outdoors so much as shaded his skin nicely.Personality:
Ammon's face is almost always covered in some amount of scruff - that's just the way he likes it, manly. Only in the warmer weather do you have the slight chance of finding him clean-shaven. His eyes are rich brown color. And what about his hair, you ask? In the winter and fall its a short, but messy, mop of light-brown curls. At the first sign of spring, its skimmed down to a buzz cut. However, Ammon prefers his hair longer, since its covers up the bald spot that's beginning to form on the back of his head.
Ammon, not unlike most teenage guys, can be somewhat of a d*** to people. What do I mean by this? Well, when you're chopping wood in the woods for hours, any guy would take off his shirt just to cool off, right? Well Ammon would be that guy who would take off his shirt at unnecessary times, just so people can see his muscles. Most things he says just come off in a condescending manner, whether he actually wants you to feel stupid or not. In basic terms, Ammon feels that he is better than you. Ammon will only talk to you if you are: 1) A guy who's on his level of superiority or higher.History:
or
2) A really attractive woman.
Don't take it personally if he doesn't warm up to you right away, he just doesn't do very well at branching out.
That's not to say that Ammon is incapable of being nice. He is nice, to those he's close to. If he doesn't know you or doesn't have a good first impression of you, he'll come off as rude. But give it time, Ammon just takes a while to soften up and look past a physical appearance. Once you do win him over, you'll find yourself a man who loves to party and loves to find himself getting into all sorts of mischief.
There is a side to Ammon though that few rarely see. Underneath the physique of "I am a lumberjack with big muscles" is a book-nerd. Few people know this about Ammon, but he loves reading the old classics such as Shakespeare and Victor Hugo (though copies of their books are quite rare to find, he's grateful to have even had the chance to read them.) His favorite book, by far, is the History of Panem written by the Capitol scholars. Just the intense history of Panem along with the many conflicts and bloodshed always manage to leave him begging for more. Sometimes, and only on a rare occasion, can you find him alone with his thoughts, imagining what he would do if he went to war like the men and women in his books.
Ammon was born into a middle class family in District 7. His mother, Denali, stays home to raise her family while his father, Lepidus, works out in the lumber field. Ammon has always looked up to his father as a model of what a man should be - strong and steady, but only forceful when he has to be. He is also the first of 4 children: Ammon, then his little sisters Dana and Catesby, and most recently his younger brother, Malaki. Ammon does his best to take a position as role model to his siblings, but at times it just feels to him like another excuse for people to put him down, so he tries to spend as little time with his family as possible.Codeword: odair
When Ammon was eight his father first took him out to the woods to learn how to chop down trees and help put money on the table. At first he wanted nothing to do with lumber - he wanted to grow up and become a scholar, just like the people who wrote his books. So what did Ammon do, like most eight year old boys might do? He slammed the axe on the ground and proceeded to stomp off. But his father would have none of it. A few quick smacks and tears and Ammon was willing to come back and help. Since then, Ammon has worked hard to not only learn from his father, but to possibly take over his father's position in the lumber yard someday.
Things were going smoothly for Ammon, up until Dana turned eight and wanted to work just like her brother. Lepidus and Ammon firmly said no - this was a man's job, no need for a girl like Dana to mess it up. Denali coaxed them into letting her watch, just for a day. Ammon could live with that, just a day. It was around noon and Dana began complaining that she was bored just watching the men in her family "get sweaty and chop trees." She wanted to get up and try it for herself. Dana then proceeded to try and fight Ammon for the axe he held in his hand. After a brief moment of struggle, Dana's arms gave out and she let go. But Ammon, all his force pulling her away, stumbled backwards, and the axe nestled itself in his right leg. He still has a scar and a moderate limp from that day.
The only other major turning point for Ammon was at age 15, when he found himself his first girlfriend. Her name was Helena - a short, but fairly curvy girl with blond hair. He didn't quite know what to make of her; she was different from all the other girls he'd met and hung out with, but something in her attracted him. They dated for only 6 months, but in those 6 months, Ammon found himself actually opening up to her. For once he wasn't his usual standoffish self, he felt secure with her. Though their relationship did not work out for the better, Ammon knows what he felt and knows that somewhere out there is a girl for him.
