Shadow McCoy, District 7

Not the tallest kid on earth, he is only five feet and six inches tall. He is a skinny guy, with square shoulders and long legs, always bruised from climbing trees. He also has pale skin. His mind always seems to be in a different place than where he is.
His nostrils flare when he is angry, though he is usually able to keep his cool. The nose itself is tilting at an odd angle due to an encounter he had with a cougar. He has thick fingers, always scraped from climbing trees. His hair is short and black, brown
eyes that look like they could be plotting your death or thinking up a cure for cancer, and a mouth that is pointed in an eternal scowl, his eyebrows likewise.
He usually wears baggy jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt. He never really cared about his appearance, because he thinks appearance gives you no more chance of survival.

shadow likes to be alone. Nobody talks to him when he attends school, and he likes it that way. He is not shy, he just doesnt like people in general. He usually just is, like his name, in the shadows. He usually just skips school, although intelligent, to wander in the woods. These wanderings include throwing an axe at trees, following large animals without them noticing, and trying to master the art of jumping from tree to tree.
Over the years, he has developed the ability to remain unseen and move, again like his name, like a shadow. He has always been like this, a social outcast by choice. His only friend drowned in a river when she was thirteen. The death of his parents has increased the need to be alone. He was put in an orphanage but seldom goes there, living on his own in the woods for days at a time. When he is especially troubled, he will remain in the orphanage yet unseen, one of his talents. His lack of talking makes his voice higher voice than most kids his age.

He was born at his parent's house as twin, but his twin sister was a miscarriage, so he is and only child. Growing up, his parents taught him valuable lessons like how to survive in the woods. His parents weren't really rich or poor. They weren't starving or anything, but they sometimes had to skip breakfast. His friend, Sarah Nolan, drowned in a river when they were both thirteen. He was there too witness it. This is what started his long walks in the woods. He wanted to be away because when he is at school, all they said to him was: "Hey, aren't you that kid who was there when that girl drowned?"
His parents were deeply concerned with him, but he usually just stayed to himself, but was always tugged by his parents to join social activities. The death of his parents, one to a disease called leukemia, and one in a timber accident, devastated him. He seldom stays at the orphanage when important events happen. The headmaster of the orphanage is a strict yet nice lady, Mrs Polly Rutger.
When he attends school, he was picked on for a short period of time until the main bully mysteriously received a broken nose and a black eye. he is now left alone at school, but still does is truant 2/3 of the time.
