Xander Sykes (District 1)

"Everything about me is my best quality"

Let's start with Xander's face. He has a pretty face. Gorgeous, chocolate brown eyes, a bit squinty, but still captivating. They're set under dark brown, fuzzy eyebrows.

His nose is a bit larger than it should be (based on his other features), and it's rather triangular instead of the preferred rounded, but these two qualities are pretty minor.

His hair is rather long and shaggy, but he keeps it well-groomed, and says, "The ladies like it. They look at my bushy eyebrows, my long hair, and they think of me as... a handsome man gone rogue. Wild, but tame." The color of his hair matches the color of his eyes perfectly; the rich chocolate brown color.

Xander has a pretty close to perfect-shaped face. It's not square, but not rounded, either. It really gives him the look of a fifteen-year-old, when he's only thirteen. This makes him feel pretty suave with the older ladies.

Xander's lips are nice and plump. They cover pearly white teeth that are slightly crooked. However, his canine teeth are a lot sharper and longer than most people's teeth, giving him a sort of canine-like smile.

Strutting is the only type of walking Xander ever does. His back is always erect, hair blowing back in the wind, and a mischievous, captivating smile peeking out from behind his lips. His actual walk is the gangster walk, swaying back and forth jerkily with arms swinging.

Xander has fairly white skin, so he tries to cover himself up the best he can. His family is wealthy enough to afford sunscreen, so he uses that to keep his face and skin soft and smooth.

His attire is the bad boy sort of look. He wears his black leather jacket almost always. He also is never seen without some sort of bandana, whether it be tight around his shaggy brown hair, or tied on his wrist. His favorite colors are red, blue, and black, so he usually wears either a red or blue bandana. His pants are always jeans that are new, but they have rips in them everywhere. His shoes are tall, black biker boots the he usually covers with his pants. The t-shirt underneath his jacket is a plain white shirt.

He doesn't have a very muscular build, and he isn't too tall, standing at only 5'4", but he hasn't hit "that stage" in his life yet, so he's hoping to bulk up a bit. Only thing is, he's too lazy to work out.

Xander is far from some athletic miracle. He can't swim, he can't run, he can't lift heavy things, and he can't jump high.

"It's a pleasure to know me, honestly. There is no other person on Earth like me. Handsome, cunning, talented... I have it all!"

Xander's one of the most conceited people in District 1, which is saying something. He loves himself more than any other person. He pretty much worships himself. No one comes close to him in looks, or so he thinks. He is very handsome, but his cocky attitude makes most girls walk away from him.

Xander isn't too determined to do anything. He's just a lazy bump on a log. His parents, who own a very popular jewelry shop in District 1, are the cause of this. They never made him work for anything, so he basically got anything he wanted. And he still does! This has caused him to be very undeveloped physically, as well as making him think he can have whatever his heart desires. Because of his wealth, he has an illusion of superiority over many people, especially those younger than him.

Far from shy, the only thing Xander ever works hard for and is determined to get is girls. He will chase the same girl for weeks upon weeks until they fall for him, or he sees another girl that takes his mind off of the girl he was going after. He's very shallow, so he judges girls based on their outward appearance, and expects the girls he "loves" to look close to the insane, colorful, worldly beautiful models in the Capital.

Despite his overall jerky personality and laziness, Xander is pretty smart. He's always pulling great grades in school. Most people say he's "too smart for his own good" for he has ways of using tricky wordplay and cunning smarts to get out of things he doesn't want to do.

Skills Xander has are few. However, he still has SOME. He is one of the most talented singers in all of Panem. Also, he plays the Acoustic Guitar beautifully. His father is a grand guitar player, and his mother a singer. They both taught him their talents, and now he uses these to woo the girls he preys on.

Being a Career, no matter how athletically challenged, Xander had to find some weapon to train himself with. He tried knives, but he couldn't throw them far or jab them deep enough. He attempted to train himself with an axe, but ended up causing a terrible accident (which will be explained in the History section). He then turned archery. Something about the bow felt right. The way it was held, the smooth wooden surface, and the way it silkily released the arrow, but with such force. He knew this was the weapon for him. After five years of practicing archery, he is extremely gifted.

"Work? Please! If I want something, I just ask my dear old man for it."

Xander has had everything handed to him since he was a young child. This is the cause, as mentioned before, of his lazy, I-could-care-less attitude that usually bugs people. However, his parents don't seem to try to fix his attitude problem, for they still give him whatever he wants. Basically, he's a spoiled pretty boy.

Xander wanted to become a Career so badly throughout all of his childhood. His main desire to become a Career, though, was to please his father, who always told him how, "I was the best career District 1 ever had. Shame I wasn't reaped. I would've won the Hunger Games, hands down." Every day, his father would come into his room and tell him stories about his training, about the girls that would fall all over him, and how he couldn't wait to see the kind of Career Xander could be. Ever since then, Xander has wanted to please his father by becoming just like him... an arrogant Career boy from District 1.

If Xander was ever reaped, he feels pretty confident about himself being able to play in the Hunger Games. He isn't compassionate enough about others to really care if he killed them. In fact, he'd be more than willing to slit a throat or two to gain ultimate glory and luxury (though his current life is pretty luxurious.)

Once, when Xander was only 7, he tried to use an axe. He wanted to become a Career, so he was looking for a weapon to train with. He was swinging the axe around, practicing his aim, when something horrid happened. Red, his young puppy he had gotten four months before, walked up behind him. He swung the axe behind him, and beheaded Red. His look was of the utmost horror when he looked down at his dogs body, and the severed head laying a foot away.

That dog was the only thing he ever truly cared about as much as himself. He got a new dog, Nakita, a young Siberian Husky. Even though he loves her, he still misses his Red.

He got Nakita for his thirteenth birthday. His parents thought a new puppy would be too painful of a memory before, so they waited for about six years before getting him a new dog. Nakita is only 2 months old now, and he spends a lot of time with her.

Xander is an only child. His mother and father were thinking about having more children, possibly. But when they saw how "perfect" their little Xander was, they decided he was all they needed to complete their family.

Xander's parents love and adore him. Xander returns their love back. He and his father both have the same personalities and almost the same looks. Except for his eyes and nose. His eyes and nose are exactly like his mother's.

Xander is very adventurous, and throughout all of his life has really enjoyed going exploring. He also has a vivd imagination, so he can make anything seem like a cray adventure or some faraway place.

Other than guitar and singing, Xander likes to write poetry. Often times, he puts the poetry with music and creates a song. This is one tactic he uses to get girls to fall for him. He really doesn't have any other hobbies.
