Lyla {-District 2-}

Lyla has short cut blond hair that goes just past her ears and swoops up slightly. Of course, her mother straightens it sometimes, but only on very important dates. Lyla has dull gray eyes and seems to have a permanent smirk etched into her face. She has slightly tanned skin from her training outside, but it is nothing compared to those from District 4. Lyla has thin eyebrows and long eyelashes from her mother's styling. Her skin is extremely smooth from seemingly constant waxing and shaving. Her mother finds it very important for a young lady to be hairless.

Without her mother's constant styling, however, Lyla grows hair very fast. She is naturally a hairy girl. Her hair gets very tangled and messy without the shampoo her mother makes. Her eyebrows lose their perfect arch and her eyelashes lose their color and length. Without her mother, Lyla would be as ugly as a coal miner drunk from District 12.

Lyla isn't as muscled as most girls from District 2. Her legs are what would make her a great career - well, that and her throwing knives and shuriken daggers. Lyla can run pretty fast and is a very heavy Kyusho Jitsu practicer. This means she focuses mainly on pressure points and speed, so strength is not necessary. However, Lyla does have some strength in her arms from her intensive training. But most girls in District 2 work more on their arms than legs, so she doesn't seem as strong as them in appearance, but she could do just as well as them in the Hunger Games.

Lyla is very shy at first, but once she gets to know someone she is as hyper as a bunny on carrot crack. She loves to talk and sometimes can't shut up. She always acts as if she knows something you don't, like an inside joke or something. Lyla smiles almost constantly, sometimes from true happiness, and sometimes to hide the feelings underneath. She always tries to hide how depressed she constantly is from her father's death.

Lyla isn't very intelligent in school, but in fighting she makes an A+. Lyla's entire life was devoted to fighting ever since her father was killed in a tragic shooting accident. So, when Lyla is practicing she tends to be very serious and not playful at all. She tends to be very snippy and mean when she is busy doing something, not wanting to be interrupted by "unimportant affairs".

Lyla is also very argumentative. Everytime she sees the chance for debate she takes it and goes to extremes. This makes a lot of people annoyed with her, but it is also a valuable skill. Lyla is very manipulative as well, using people to her advantage. She likes to use her words to her advantage, making boys give her money for lunch or doing something as simple as carrying her books to class.

Lyla was born to a loving mother and father. Her older brother, Damon, had died many years before her birth from an unknown epidemic, but her parents were excited to raise another child. Lyla's parents were wealthy because her father was a peacekeeper and her mother was a thriving seamstress and hairstylist. Their lives were pretty well off as far as money goes.

However, when Lyla was 7 years old, her mother received a call from the Mayor that her father had been killed walking through a shooting game two Peacekeepers were playing. Those two Peacekeepers had been executed for manslaughter and stupidity. Her mother wasn't devastated, but she was deeply saddened.

Her mother's business was still thriving, but without her father's pay everything seemed to dwindle away. Her mother's pay was decreasing because she couldn’t work as often with a 7 year old at home so, when Lyla was 9 years old, she decided to make her mother some money. She decided that the quickest and easiest way to make money was to steal it. She began to pickpocket shiny things from people. Soon, however, it became more than a job. She began to become obsessed with it. Even when she didn't need anything she would steal from old women, young women, children, anyone with anything sparkly. Lyla truly didn't recognize the problem until her mother saw her stealing a wristwatch from an elderly man that had passed out in a rocking chair. Her mother had been furious and hadn't talked to Lyla for weeks. Lyla became depressed, but her addiction didn't go away that easily, so she decided to find a new love to replace the emptiness she now felt inside of her stomach.

When Lyla was 12 - 5 years after the accident - she decided that she would participate in the Hunger Games one day so that she could keep her father's memory alive by having all of the Capitol see her interview, her story, and her winning the Hunger Games. She also did this so that her mind would stay away from the overwhelming desire to steal. Everytime she would catch herself reaching out to take something, she would immediatly run to a quiet place and begin to throw daggers at trees, all while tears ran down her face.

Lyla began to train daily, sometimes with other kids and sometimes alone. She would practice sword fighting, fist fighting, and arrow shooting, but her main interest was in throwing knives and shuriken daggers. So, she excelled in that and left everything else behind - not caring to practice with swords, or bows or anything else anymore. She did this becaue she knew that if she ever went into the Hunger Games, that she would be looking for some shuriken daggers, but she also knew that if they didn't have those, that she would be dead in the Bloodbath.
