Tempest Becklan - District 2

Tempest isn't your typical District 2 career. Short but lean, she stands at 5'5 tall and weighs in at about 123 pounds. She's got a decent amount of muscle, but none of it goes to her dismal upper body strength. Her strong suit isn't lifting weights; it's running. With a pair of legs like Tempest's, how could you not be? Long with sculpted calves, she runs laps around the District twice a day to keep them in shape.

Not particularly 'well-endowed' in the chest area, she still has a killer hour-glass shape due to her tiny waist. And while most of her training focuses on her legs, her arms are by no means flabby. Her hands and feet are small and her fingers are rather spindly. Her face is oval-shaped, with slightly rounded cheek bones set high on her face. Her eyes are oval as well, and a dark, chocolate brown. Tempest has a big forehead and low-set eyebrows and heart-shaped light pink lips. Her hair falls to her shoulder blades, and while it's naturally only slightly wavy, she curls it on an almost daily basis. It's dark brown with a few lighter brown highlights, though her hair color frequently changes, depending on what season it is or what mood she's in when she visits the salon. (When her last boyfriend broke up with her, her hair went from blonde to black)

Tempest doesn't pretend that she's completely perfect (though she strives to be) and although it may seem contrary to her personality, she's actually pretty proud of the one scar she has. It's a small crescent-shaped cut in between her shoulder-blades that she received in a fight at school with another girl. She was shoved over a rail and her back was sliced up as she crashed into the gravel on the other side. She's more proud, though, of the fact that she stood back up and sent the other girl home crying than the fact that the incident left a scar.

Tempest is the definition of 'brat' when it comes to clothes. She's picky beyond belief, and hardly ever wears anything more than twice. Her closet is extensive, and consists of mostly jewel-tones clothes, party dresses, designer jeans or work-out clothes. Her favorite outfits usually include some kind of skirt or tank-top.

Tempest is a devious little woman, who can hold a major grudge. She's cold and calculating, and will do anything to get revenge against someone who she thinks deserves. But she hides this behind her sugary-sweet smile. She can be snarky, and enjoys putting those she dreams unworthy of her kindness 'in their place' as she puts it, but she does have a weak spot. She would never admit this, for fear of ridicule and expulsion from the exclusive group of friends she belongs to, but she has a serious love of nerdy boys. Not so much for their smarts, but she thinks they're rather adorable (or is the word 'adorkable'?) She's a very fashion-forward type of girl, and her love of nerds is also for that reason; she just loves turning them around and making them over. Her current running total of nerd make-overs stands at 12.

Tempest isn't stupid; she knows the chances of her becoming a tribute are low, and even though she trains religiously, the chances of her winning the Hunger Games should be chose are even lower. So she reluctantly stays in school; she hates Math and Science, but isn't horrible at either, and manages to pull pretty good grades. And school is the perfect place to feed her 'nerd' addiction.

Her personality doesn't make her the leader that she wishes she was, but rather the loyal follower. Often smarter than her friends, she acts as something of an informant; anything that's being said or done in District 2 is known by Tempest. She's also somewhat of a gossip, and a major party girl.

Mr. Kenneth Becklan's family had been doctors for generations. Mrs. Jenette Harlow's had come from a long line of Miners. When the District shifted Industries, Kenneth and Jenette got married, and while Kenneth's family grew poorer, Jenette's grew richer. When their daughter, Tempest, was born, the Becklan's were decently wealthy and little Tempest wanted for nothing. She grew up with, almost literally, a silver spoon in her mouth. She wasn't a loud child, but rather a devious one. Instead of causing a commotion in class and disrupting the other students, she would be the one to glue the teacher's chalk to the chalk tray before school, or plant a tarantula in the shy girl's cubby during naptime. She had the ability to never get herself caught, and even though her crimes in elementary school were known, none of her teachers were ever able to pin those crimes to Tempest.

Tempest blossomed in Middle School, gaining, among other things, a bra, a boyfriend and a gaggle of wannabes to do her biding. She enjoyed being the Queen Bee, and traded her thumb-tacks and glue in for a crown. But things were about to change; you can't sit at the top for long without drawing negative attention to yourself. She was toppled from her perch at the top of the school when she entered High School, and was quite bitter about it. It was then that she decided it was far smarter to attach yourself to someone else, instead of taking the crown alone. Being a follower sucked, in her opinion, but she enjoyed the perks of popularity without any of the real danger of being toppled.

It was ingrained into Tempest from a very young age that the Hunger Games were the end-all be-all for a girl like her. She NEEDED to be picked as a tribute, her parents told her, and NEEDED to win. Not only would she bring her family wealth, but recognition, which is what they ultimately wanted. Tempest wasn't opposed to the idea, and she was already a decent runner already, so she went along with it, and now, she's one of the fastest, most agile kids in District 2.
