*Carter is my character, and he happens to have DID. Lang is his second personality, Anything that happens to Lang, Carter cannot remember.Personality:---------------------
One could say Carter is not at his age yet, or one could simply say he just hasn't hit manhood. Despite his age he still has boyish looks, and feminine features. Sometimes he get smade fun of for this, but he has learned to not let it bother him. His looks are one of the only things he's come to like about himself.
His most prominant features reside on his face. He has bright blue eyes framed by thin dark lashes. They are what really pops about on his face. His nose is long and slightly askew due to a break in it when he was eight, though he doesn't remember how it happened. He had soft pink lips, and they are definitely his most feminine feature. His ears are small and slighty pointed, explaining why he was called an elf so many times.
His eyebrows are a few shades darker that his hair; a papery-thin mop that resides on his head. It's a light yellow colour and brings out his eyes more so than dark hair ever could. It hangs right blow his ears and the back, and slates upwards to his face. By the time it gets to the front, it's short bangs that don't even reach his eyes.
Skinny. It's another name he answered to often. However, this name wasn't uncommon in his district where a majority of the people were poor. Even now, he doesn't look much better. He is thin and somewhat lanky. The only muscle in his body is in his arms and it's from lifting his sister everywhere because she cannot walk. He stands at about 5'9" and isn't one that gets noticed too often.
Carter's standard choose for clothing is a simple teenager's choice. He likes t-shirts, jeans, and sneakers. His one weird quirk is that he has to match. Sometimes he wears jackets, but normally only when he has to (i.e. if it's snowing). He has a weird fettish with hats and wears them all the time. And all types as well.
Carter would be an excellent boy if it weren't for a minor trait that sets him apart. Very apart. Carter is one of the select few in the world who suffers from DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder). It is a disorder in which Carter suffers multiple personalities. Fortunately, he has only fully developed one, though doctors say this could change over the course of time. He may in fact develop many such personalities.History:
As a victum of this unfortunate 'disease', Carter suffers the normal symptoms of one with DID. He often has blackouts in which he can't remember anything. Be it a momnet in time, or how he got to a certain place. He is often accused of lying when he thinks he isn't and ends up with things that aren't his, but he doesn't remember how he got them. Sometimes he hears voices in his head and feels as though he's missing out in life. The really horrible part, his he doesn't know about any of this, or that he has this 'disease'.
His parents keep it from him because they know it would tear him apart if he knew (see history for more on this). Carter is really a sweet guy. He cares about others and loves his sister to death. His parents are his life support. He would do almost anything for anyone and loves to bring a smile to people's faces.
Carter is rather shy. He doesn't implicate conversations, he waits for one to find him. It takes a little while for him to get to know someone, because he's sort of distant and not talkative. He has a catious nature in which he doesn't tell very much about himself, but he makes a great listener. He is always quiet and understanding and also has time for someone.
Animals are something he enjoys being around and connecting with. He rescued his dog, Haymer (Hey-mer), out of a sinkhole when he was twelve. They've been inseperable ever since. Haymer is his best friend and the only living thing he feels comfortable enough around to share everything.
A neat freak to some extent, he doesn't enjoy leaving things around. His room is spotless (or as spotless as it can be) and almost everything is organized neatly. He hates when someone takes something out and doesn't put it back. Unfortunately, he isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. He's not good at any sort of school work, passing with D's and a few C's. Sometimes he is also short of common sense, but his heart is always in the right place.
Carter doesn't use nicknames or anything of the sort people he feels as though shortening his name is a way losing a part of himself. When talking to other people, he usually uses their full names as well. Sometimes people refer to him as Lang and he doesn't know why. But he gets rather upset about it. If they don't shorten his first name, why should they shorten his last?
Lang is Carter's other half. Literally. However, he doesn't like it. Carter's personality is too soft for him. He likes to be called Lang, because it in no way can be connected to the name Carter. Yet, it's still a part of himself. His personality is darker than Carter's, but they do share a few similiar traits.
Like Carter, Lang is also a neat freak. But more so then Carter. Almost OCD. Everything must be perfect and in order. Things must be precise and clean. Lang is never late to or for anything. He always arrives at least 2 minutes early. He also gets annoyed when people don't call him by the name he chooses, Lang.
Unlike Carter, he is mean spirited and easily irritated. He takes pleasure in the little things that upset people and likes to annoy them. Name-calling is something he has recently adopted as a form of torture. When talking to someone, he will sometimes use a insult instead of their real name. He hates the dog that follows him around. He thinks of it as annoying and sometimes throws things at it or kicks it. (Luckily, Haymer can tell he is almost two different people)
Lang is easily upset by words and hotheaded. He is an impulse person, not a thinker. If somethings happens, he does the first thing that comes to mind. Unfortunately, it is sometimes cruel and astonishingly. He gets into fights easily, also provoking his opponent. Sometimes he gets bored and starts fights strictly for fun (perhaps this is why Carter doesn't have many friends).
Carter was born to Amy and Santol Langston. They both loved him very dearly, and still do. He was first diagnosed with DID when he was four. He had his first episode. He doesn't remember anyone of it, whether it's due to the DID or the fact he was four, no one will no. Some of the doctors said it might be that something happened while he was in the womb that caused this.Codeword: muttations
Lang first struck when Carter was four. His mother had asked him nicely to come inside from playing and he didn't want to. His mother started screaming, and he got so upset he ended up hitting her in the face and then biting her hand and also breaking her middle finger. A few moments later he was back to his old Carter self and claimed he didn't remember a thing. They brought him (and his mother) to the doctors right away.
He was such a sweet little thing that they thought maybe his second personality would subside. They assumed he might be able to overcome it himself. Within the next few years, they had a baby girl named Sophie. She was five years younger than Carter. He treated her amazingly, being the older brother his parents wanted him to be. They hadn't had an episode since.
Lang appeared again when Carter was 10 (Sophie was 5). He was playing with Sophie outside one day. There was a small brook on the edge of the village (or so I'm hoping or this can't happen at all). It was slightly up hill and had a small 10 foot waterfall into the brook. Nobody went swimming in it because it had several sharp, slippery rocks at the bottom.
There was a small swing up there the children shared, and Sophie and Carter suddenly started fighting over it. Sophie wouldn't get off and Carter wanted a turn. No, Lang wanted a turn. He was so upset he pushed Sophie off. She hit the ground and started crying. "Shut up." Lang kept muttering over and over. "Someone will hear you." But she just wouldn't. Finally sick of hearing her whine, she pushed her hard, causing her to fall of the closest ledge and into the brook below.
Carter realized what happened and got help, claiming his sister had fallen. Somehow he still felt that it was his falt. His parents instantly knew what had happened and brought him to the doctor's again. They promised each other they wouldn't tell him, and convinced Sophie she wouldn't as well (over time she forgot how the incident happened anyways, believeing her parents lies that she had simply fallen). Fortunately, when Sophie landed she hadn't died, but she did lose her walking capabilities. She had it a rock with her head, and it had sent her into a small coma that damaged her nerves. When she came out of the coma, she could no longer move her legs properly.
More and more often Lang started to appear, stirring up troubling. The doctors said he might appear more frequently because of the trauma he went through with his sister and the guilt he may feel even though he can't remember it. Carter took the medicine as directed, though not because of Lang whom he knew nothing about. His parents had convinced him it was to help with his frequent memory loses. He often found himself confused and blank, and not being able to remember anything (which of course was whenever Lang came around). That's the reason he so willingly took. Why didn't his friends tell him about Lang? Well, because he didn't have many to begin with.
Nowadays, Lang shows up again and again, but Carter is still as sweet as ever. He carries his sister willingly from place to place and does what he can to help around the house. He family isn't very rich but they are hard workers. His father is an inventer and plays around with gadgets constantly. His mother tends to spend more time take care of his sister, though she occasionally helps his father with work.
