Flynn Gillford: District 4

Creamy blemish free skin and dirty blonde hair make Flynn appear to be one of the many beautiful young faces in District Four. Although he has his noticeable beautiful traits, he has his flaws.

His ears are misshapen in a sense, being triangular and twisted so that the large pieces of cartilage bend towards his head and the tips disappear into his hair. His hair is short and boyish, but the blonde locks are often damaged from the constant wetting from water and drying from the hot sun in District Four, appearing messy and not cared for. His eyebrows are horizontal, but on both sides they point upwards towards his temples and upwards towards his forehead. His nose is evenly shape, symmetrical, but is large and circular on the end. His lips are inconspicuous, being thin and small and a flushed pink skin color. His eyes are animal-like, being small, squinty and pointing down on the ends. The edges of his eyes are formed with charcoal colored eyelashes, which stand out on his light face with light hair. His eyes are a very light blue color, almost white and pop out of his creamy colored face. His jaw is very slender and has little excess of skin and fat, and a boyish dimple details his chin. His cheekbones are very evident from his skinny physique and lack of consumption of food.

His neck is tall and his veins and bones pop out around the collarbone to reveal an unattractive myriad of internal effects of overuse. His chest is flat and toned, having little hair from hitting puberty late. His shoulders are broad and hold a muscular set of arms that once again, contain evident veins from working them too much. His lower arm is slender and has little mass but is lightly striped with light blonde strands of hair that glisten in the sun after becoming wet. His hands are strong but appear weak with cuts, scrapes, bruises and chipped nails. His nails are dented, cut up and marked with years of labor. On his left, his skin changes to a pale white color in a ring around his ring finger in which years of wearing a gold banded District Four ring block the sunlight’s ability to tan.

His stomach is slender and dented with subtle abs that are just starting to develop and hip bones that pop out on his sides. His legs are very strong, having thick quadracepts that support his tall and muscular 6’0’’ body. His thighs are also a pale white color, being covered with board shorts usually that extends down to his knees. His knees are oddly shaped, being square and pointed outwards. His shins are covered with scars and scrapes, bruises and cuts that are covered poorly by his light colored leg hair. His calf muscles are sharp and pop out with square definition and strength. His feet are large and high arched with pointed toes and worn down skin. The bottom of his feet are ripped and cut which conflict with the smooth, spotless tops. His toenails are long and dirty, which forgets to hide while walking around barefoot. His skin is usually slightly shiny from the exposure to water.

His wardrobe consists of ocean colored blues and greens; hooded tank tops, board shorts, thin textures to prevent insulation, and little amount of shoes. He most often wears a black muscle tank top under a zipped up royal blue hooded tank top with white strings and white colored board shorts.

Flynn is as funny as he is friendly. Having a fantastic sense of humor, Flynn can turn any situation into riot. His outlook on life is very positive and happy, which is from everything that he lacks in his life. Having little money and food all of his life, he has learned to be happy no matter what. His best personality trait is probably seeing the good side of things.

Flynn also has a lot of good friends and people who love him. He is very good at approaching people and relating to people, having a talkative and social demeanor. He has no boundaries when it comes to accepting people and loves everyone for who they are. Flynn is also very humble, being unaware of his handsomeness, being a disbeliever of his strength and potential. He is not cocky or overconfident like other district 4 boys, but instead sees himself on an equal basis with others, not being supreme.

While Flynn has his great qualities, he also has his negative. Flynn is timid, being afraid to do his best. He does not believe in himself and puts restrictions on his possibilities. He also is very bad at dealing with stress, psyching himself out and worrying. He is used to dealing with little food and privileges, but is bad at dealing with isolation. He is used to being surrounded by people he enjoys and can joke around with. In tough situations in which he confronts his inner psyche, he cracks under pressure.

Flynn's sense of humor and charismatic personality verges on hyperactivity. Sometimes he has trouble focusing, on settling down and weighing out his options. This causes him to be poorly prepared for decision-making and crucial actions. One of his major negative qualities is his sensitivity. He tends to be attached to things easily, and when he loses them, he does not handle it well. Losing friends, family members, items, is very tough on him and deflates his confidence.

Flynn was born to a poor couple in district four during a flood. Their house was washed away and destroyed. While his mom gave birth, she was under mental and physical exhaustion. Her unstable bout with a heart condition defeated her and she died during childbirth. This left her husband with not just Flynn, but his identical twin named Porter. Their mother was a passionate cook who worked in a bakery and dreamed about having a family.

Flynn's father named Orrick was an angler who worked every day of his life until the birth. He lost everything, his wife, and his house, having no money to provide his twins with. He was forced to build a shack in a small, elevated town in the district and find all of their food himself. After they had grown into happy healthy 5 year olds, he gained a lot of relief. He met a new woman named Marina and married her when the twins were seven. She was a wealthy heir of a father from district 1 and provided the family with a lot of support. They eventually moved about 100 miles North into a nice beach house where they attended school, made friends and were nourished with food.

When Flynn and Porter turned 12, Marina showed her true colors. She left Orrick with no money and no wife, on his own again. After Flynn and Porter were old enough to fish, they maintained a living by fishing for food and bargaining for supplies in the city with their rare fish. Ever since then, the three guys have grown super close and love each other dearly. Flynn and Porter are identical twins, so they have shared a bond their whole life. They now share this same bond with their father, who is a struggling businessperson who owns a fishing store. Flynn and his brother go to school and both struggle with learning. They are both passionate about fishing and swimming and are simply uninterested when it comes to academics. Nowadays, they live in the home that Marina bought them and spend their days swimming and fishing to enjoy themselves and to survive.

Well I love the site and love the books, so I'm really excited to get involved! :) My only question would be how do we obtain money over a certain ammount of time? Through posting? And is it too late to buy tesserae if I make enough money? Thanks for the help.
