Catherine Burns District 5

Her dark strawberry blonde hair falls in tangled waves to her higher back. She has green eyes framed by medium lengthed, yet dark eyelashes. Her nose is slightly sloped. Her posture is like a dancer, although she does not dance. Her face is slightly oval.

Her fingers are long and tapered, gracefull. She owns a pinkish skin tone, smooth, and most of the time covered in dirt. Unfortunatly, she is a hemophiliac. Where her blood won't clot. Also, she happens to be hypo glicemic. If she consumes sugar, her overactiveness rockets into outerspace until she crashes.

Catherine is tenacious. She has a very strong will. Sometimes to a fault. Once she grabs hold of an idea, it roots itself in her mind. This aspect of her however, also makes her completely loyal. Once she attatches to someone, she can never leave.

She has a strong sense of justice. But is also very closed minded. She is not perfect. Like many teenage girls, she lets her emotions carry her. To her defense however, she is trying to overcome that. Trying, with small increments of progress.

When she gets into a laughing mood, it's hard to put her out of it. She laughs at everything people say that they are trying to be funny, sometimes just to make them not feel stupid. When she is sad, she bundles it up inside as much as she can. Keeping it to herself. However when she does this, she is very touchy and wired to explode. Her strong personality shows through in almost all aspects of her life.

When she was thirteen, her father was killed in an accident at work. Her mother lives on, trying to make the best out of life, but still slipping into depression every once in a while. When she was seven, her older brother was taken in a reaping. She still remembers his screams over the speakers in the district square. His screams in every speaker in Panem as he was ripped to shreds by a sadistic tribute. His fifteen seconds of fame.

So now she is an only child and she lives with her mother. The both of them try to live on, struggling to survive. Her life is hard, but they manage. Her mother is adament that she will not take any tesserae, but sometimes, it is necessary. All she knows is that every time she signs up for two, she has this sinking feeling that she is a couple steps closer to leaving her mother in this cruel world, alone.

She has no one else in her life. She is too busy trying to hold onto it. Her mother and her hang out together all day, so they are best friends. Sometimes she wonders when she might be able to find other friends, but the oppurtunity has yet to present itself. It's not like she doesn't enjoy her mother's company, but when she sees all the other teens hanging out together, she regrets not being able to join them.

Her brother died an "entertaining" death, and since it was live feed, all of the screens in Panem would be featuring his death. So it follows his screams would be all over Panem too.
