Bold Jacoby, District Six

Bold Jacoby is definitely overshadowed by the ghost of his older brother Noble. At five feet, two inches tall, with ragged blond hair and a tanned, but greasy and acne filled complexion, what else would he be but overshadowed. His face gives him the look of a wimpy young man or an ugly girl. With his heavy brow, angular jaw, high cheekbones and dark eyelashes surrounding his murky and swamp colored eyes, he does not look like much.

Bold also lacks the muscular build that made his brother so handsome. He is not especially strong because of that, but he still is willing to work and push himself- where strength fails, courage, nerve and daring make up, right? His easily palpable ribs denote just how thin he really is- his family does not have much and his parents work long hours doing odd jobs to make ends meet and to put bread on the table and sometimes it never even reaches their home.

Bold can be found wearing the hand-me-down clothes of his eldest brother who died in the games at thirteen. This wardrobe consists of old, worn out shoes, pants that side off of his skinny body and shirts that drape around him like potato sacks. But it's better than wearing nothing at all.

Bold is an impetuous young man who firmly believes in nobility, chivalry and the greater good. He is often rushing to the aid of some random stranger, but he is not exactly the best of help. His clumsiness often gets in the way and so he is shooed off and the poor person is normally left worse off than before Bold tried to help. It makes him feel like he can never do anything right and often resorts to violence to make himself feel better.

Street fights with other boys help him to think better of himself, which makes his father look down on him and often say, "You know, Noble would never have done what you just did." And then Bold is back where he started in the endless cycle of overshadowment.

He is sick and tired of living in his brother's shadow. Noble was one of the best kids in town, though you would never have known it for he was so quiet. Bold hates wearing the overly large clothes that remind him of how built his brother was. He hates the glances that people give him when they size him up to his brother. It hurts him to the core and makes him bitter. Sometimes he hopes he will be reaped for the games so he can win prove to everyone that he is not his brother- that he is ten times better because he was the one who won the Hunger Games. Not precious Noble. Sometimes, he wishes Noble had never even been born. But what's even worse is that he is glad his brother died in the Games. It tells him that he, Bold Jacoby, is ten times better than his brother because he is alive.

Bold Augustus Jacoby was born in early May to Primo and Reina Jacoby of District Six. He was their third child, but not their last.

At two years old, his little sister Lark was born on the eve of the reaping which began their family's bad luck for the games. Noble was taken that next day at only thirteen years of age. His sister Lirah was taken three years later at thirteen as well. Both died in the games.

Lark soon became fast friends with Willow Blacklore and Bold could tell she was crushing on him. He used this to his advantage, but when her mother became remarried, he met Creed and it was his turn to fall prey to attraction.

Now, he is thirteen years old. He has just dodged the curse of the Jacoby thirteen. But he has a feeling this might be his last year. But then again, ever since he turned twelve he's felt like he was in his last year.
