Lark Jacoby, District Six

Lark Jacoby really is, well, plain as a lark. With lusterless brown hair and blank brown eyes, she no where near lives up to her expectations for herself. Her broad face is friendly and easy on the eyes, but not especially attractive. Her eyes are more on the small side and are ringed with thin, short eyelashes. Thin, small lips, a round face and a strong chin and jaw finish her entire look and make her just plain 'ol Lark.

Lark is more on the short and stocky side. She barely reached five feet tall on a measuring stick the last time her school did measurements, but she weighs nearly one hundred and ten pounds. This comes from her large bone structure and heavy bones, but she says it comes from her layers of blubber. She does have more fat on her than usual and she still has yet to start puberty which will help thin her out some more.

Lark is a bubbly personality who is always interested in the latest gossip around school. Sometimes she wonders if she should have been born in the Capitol, as she loves luxuries and time to herself, gossip and, yes, the Games. She has never wanted to compete in the Games, but she loves to watch them on her family's television. This is one thing she shares in common with her bratty little sister Ivy who constantly fights with her every other time of the year. She never doubts her District Tributes and roots for them until the end.

Despite her happy personality, she holds a very mean grudge for very long periods of time. She may forgive, but she never forgets and likes to use favors she's done for someone else and wrongs they've done to her as bargaining chips for things like new shoes, sweets and even money. She is a regular little swindler and a great bargainer.

She is not much effected by blood or cruelty in general. Sure, she doesn't want it to happen, but she has been so desensitized to it, it just falls on a numb mind. She has accepted her lot in life and doesn't see anyway out. Sure, reality and truth may be hard and cold for this young girl, but its better than building castles in the air and living in dreams and lies. She's already a master liar, but why would she lie to herself?

Lark Tetra Jacoby was born the night before the reaping eleven- almost twelve- years ago. People said that she wasn't supposed to be alive because she was three months early and had her umbilical cord rapped around her neck. On top of that, her mother had been hit by a truck, which induced labor and should have killed her too.

After both Noble and Lirah, Lark's older siblings, were reaped and slaughtered, people said that Death had cursed their family because Lark and her mother had survived the accident. He wanted his revenge for evading him in double the life he would have gained. Bold and Ivy were supposedly next. But, those are just silly little superstitions, afterall.

Lark met Willow Helms (now Willow Blacklore) when she was four years old. It was just a day when their mothers had been finishing their purchases at a market stall when the two little girls hit it off by talking about the pretty dresses in the tailor's shop. They both loved the pretty white dress that neither of their families could afford at the time. So, the two resolved to go into business together selling ribbon jewelry.

Business was slow, but they sold them for cheap so they had enough to buy a dress for one of them. Both were six years old. Suddenly, Willow's mother remarried to a well-off scientist and so they had the money to buy her the dress. Lark was given the money to spend, but instead of buying a dress for herself, she saved the money for a day when she might need it.

It is still stashed under her pillow for safe keeping- just enough to buy a new dress.
