Sofiel Rou - [District 8]

Sofiel has bleach blonde hair. According to her family, it was a genetic mutation; and she's inclined to agree (considering both her parents where brunettes and there is no history of blondes in the family). She has wide green eyes that (when in the right light) seem to shimmer. Her small mouth compliments her wide nose and somehow her face manages to remain in proprtion. Excusing the fact that she has unusually large ears, which she often attempts to cover with her pixie cut hair, though not always succesfully. Her pale skin seems to highlight all of her features, though it is littered with scars from various accidents in industry.

She is thin, as are most people in District 8, really. Starvation seems to have taken a toll on most of the inhabitants, and though Sofiel could be considered underweight, she retains quite a curvaceous figure. This, coupled with long arms and strong legs give her an air of health and pride that is unusual for most of the residents of Eight.

Sofiel is proud. But it's as if she has to be, living by herself in a relentless world has left her cold and distant, really only needing a shoulder to cry on.

She likes to imagine she's strong, which she can be, if necessary. But honestly, she isn't. Sure she can stand on her own two feet, but she has no idea how she'd cope to be catapulted out of what she knows and loves.

Basically, she doesn't deal with change well, but she is an outgoing person when she wants to be. To most people, though, she can seem an angry, aloof person and most take a dislike to her, which really only fuels her fire. When angered, she'll shirk her problems onto someone else, however, when she realises she has, she'll apologise virulently afterwards.

Sofiel had a nice enough family. A twin brother, two parents that where popular in the community. Both her parents worked for local schools; raising funds or teaching classes, and because of that, Sofiel was taught from a young age, sometimes even considered an academic prodigy (though she believes she was and is still an average student.)

Then the Peacekeepers came. Sofiel's parents had to raise funds to help a school that had fallen into disrepair, unfortunately, they where already working overtime at the factories, so they reverted to other means. Stealing materials from the production lines and making their own clothes at home, selling them for cheaper prices. The Peacekeepers soon found out though, from a snitch, of sorts. They had Sofiel's parents sentenced to execution.

Sofiel and her brother were only 12 at the time, so they where spared. They where sent to live with their grandmother, who couldn't really look after herself, so it was almost as if the two looked after themselves, even though they lived with an adult. The two fed themselves by signing up for tesserae yearly. Sofiel's twin brother was killed in an industrial accident earlier, so she now lives on her own with her ailing grandmother, trying to make her way in the world.
