Appearance ||
How do I start? Well, he's very strong, well built, muscular, whatever way you want to say it - but they all mean the same thing. To prove it, Clyde's arms aren't exactly total skin-and-bones, but half, if not two-thirds, are muscles from hunting daily and eating healthy. His hands are large, and his fingers are long, thin, and rather crooked. His fingernails are covered with dirt from being in the forest for long periods of time. His legs don't have as much muscle on them, but running fast is never a challenge for him since his legs are particularly strong. His feet are extremely large, and also wide. But his small toes seem to maintain a state of chubbiness - but no one can see them anyway. Clyde is also tall, (maybe it's his long legs?) but he isn't a complete giant, just six feet. Sort of average for his age. His weight? That's average, it probably comes from being muscular, but not always getting enough to eat - 176 pounds. Clyde's family isn't the wealthiest, but they do seem to have an amount of food that lets them eat enough daily.
He has eyes that are a dark blue. Clyde's large eyes are shaped like perfect circles - and seem to have a bit of sadness in them, thought there isn't anything he's really sad about. the eyelashes on his eyes are thin and a dark black color. His eyebrows are brown and in a semi-circle. His hair, which is chestnut brown, is long and shaggy, plainly he refuses to cut it. Clyde's hair just reaches his shoulders, and covers his forehead, his ears, and the back of his neck. His shoulders are sloping which makes it look like he has a bad posture, that's true, he does sort of hunch forward a little bit. His head is tall and thin and so pale, its practically transparent. But the freckles on his nose and cheeks help you see the solidness. His nose is long and thin, and is crooked and goes to the left. Along with freckles, his nose also has red spots from acne. His cheeks are long and thin - and when he gets embarrassed or nervous, they redden. His ears are normally hidden behind his hair, which is a good thing, since one of them is rather bigger than the other one. Clyde's lips are a salmon sort of color, but when he bites them they turn white. He has a bad habit of biting his lips when he gets nervous. His lips are also thin long. His chin is smooth and adds an indent to his almost oval-shaped face.
His back (which is almost always hunched front-ward) has a bit of acne on it, and his birth mark is located underneath his left shoulder-blade. His stomach is only a little bit thin, and even though he's muscular, he has a lack of abs. His belly-button sticks out, some would call that an 'outie'. The only bit of hair on his torso is a happy trail - his family can afford a shaver/razor. Clothing personally doesn't matter to him, you just got them dirty hunting, and then had to wash them again. But that doesn't mean he'd go nude and run around and dance. Clyde would rather just wear the same clothes... or something. He normally wears sweatpants and a sweatshirt, with an undershirt, shoes, socks, and all those necessities. Maybe if the weather is hot, he'll just wear a short-sleeved shirt with some jeans, and if the weather's cold, an extra jacket. Why waste your time with those fancy brands from District 8? The only thing he wears that some people don't and isn't necessary is a bracelet that his dad gave him. I some seasons - like Spring, or Summer - he doesn't wear shoes and likes the feeling of Earth on his feet.
Personality ||

Clyde is more-or-less a shy person. He'll be friends with anyone, but certain people, like people who tried to look their best, or people that only cared about themselves. Most of the time, no one approaches him, he has sullen and hostile feeling about him, probably due to his towering height and muscle. Maybe things would be different if he decided to approach someone, but he never builds enough courage. He isn't a very outgoing person - he doesn't like to do 'daring' stuff, and he isn't into doing drugs and stuff. He'd rather be in the forest than be getting wasted all the time. The sad truth is, he rarely ever talked to strangers, and if he did, his voice would appear strange and rough. But he wouldn't mind socializing with someone, as long as they gave him some respect. The only person he feels comfortable with is Clarice, his sister. She could cheer him up in a heart-beat by telling a funny joke or just being herself. but on some days, they barely got to see each-other, leaving Clyde cold-hearted and Clarice bored. Unlike some kids, Clyde didn't mind having a little sister, they're like best friends.
The Capitol People, in Clyde's opinion, had no lives, maybe he'd have a different perspective if he lived in the Capitol. He thought that they made themselves like a art-piece - spending hours looking at themselves in the mirror, flourishing over their fake selves, thinking they're the superior ones. Honestly, Clyde didn't a pale-blue body very attractive. Also, the Capitol thought they could settle things my making The Hunger Games. Clyde never saw that as a way to solve problems, it was foolish, immature, and just down-right barbaric. Something that always interested Clyde was thinking how long people in the Capitol could survive in The Hunger Games - but that would make him feel bad, so he normally changed his thoughts to something else.
But trust me, Clyde isn't always cruel. He can be a cheerful person at times - but he has many fears. One of the things that creep him out the most are any insects or bugs besides fireflies. He also doesn't like the dark, and if he's swallowed in blackness, he outs his head into palms and tries to imagine a brighter place. Claustrophobia is probably his biggest problem - if he can't see any light, he starts panicking and sweating all over, normally he refuses to go into places that don't have any windows. Clyde isn't a very brave person, even though he may appear like it. One thing he isn't afraid of is water, which doesn't matter too much. He also doesn't mind heights, which he doesn't exactly encounter on a regular basis. One thing that can wash away all his troubles and fears is hunting. Hunting is his favorite thing to do ever since he was around twelve. Although he cares a lot about nature, he doesn't mind shooting a rabbit in the eye. When he isn't wearing shoes, hunting feels twice as good - Clyde loves the feeling of dirt and moss on his bare feet.
Some other things you should know about him is he's quite clumsy, trips often, spills his water, drops something randomly, or knocks into people by accident - some of this is caused by his narcolepsy, which you'll learn more about later. Clyde is also confident, once he does start on a task, he won't stop until he got it down. He can also be an independent person, and he likes to be alone at times. One time, he spent three weeks trying to make a simple dish, pasta, for his family, until he got it perfect. Another thing that's important and you should know about Clyde is that he's bisexual, and he's physically attracted to males and females. Most of his friends and family know, and he isn't ashamed, even when kids in school tease him about it. But he knows that who ever doesn't tease him supports him, and that's all that matters.
History ||

Clyde's parents meant at a funeral of David Casser, David Cloversmith was his great-grand-son, and Mary Heri's great-grand-father was friends with David. They hit it off there, and a year later, they got married. Seven months after marriage, they had a kid.\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||
Clyde Hedrick Cloversmith was born seventeen years ago, during The 40th Hunger Games in the middle of the second month on the fourth day- February 4th. His two parents, Mary and David Cloversmith, named him after David's great-grandfather, who died during the Dark Days. The middle name Hedrick came from Mary's father's name. Clyde grew up like any baby, he slept a lot, and ate a lot. He learned to talk when he was thirteen months old, and learned to walk when he was two years old. He got all the attention from his parents until his mom got pregnant again, and had a baby girl. It was ironic, strange, but cool how the newborn girl's birthday was the same as Clyde's except she was three years younger, and born on the year of The 44th Hunger Games. For a year or so, Clyde got little attention, and her parents payed attention to Clarice, their new daughter. But after three years or so, when Clyde was seven, things went back to normal, and not one child got more attention.
Clyde found out he had a sleep disorder called narcolepsy when he was seven. Narcolepsy is normally passed on through families, but none of his parents have it. Narcolepsy is a sleep disorder that causes excessive sleepiness and frequent daytime sleep attacks - anxiety can't cause it but insomnia can make it slightly worse. You basically feel drowsy, then you knees start to buckle, it causes you jaw to slack, and your head to drop. In severe cases, a person may fall and stay paralyzed for as long as several minutes - that never happened to Clyde, luckily. The sad thing is that there isn't a known cure for narcolepsy, meaning that Clyde will have to live with it. But scheduling a nap after meals or at any time can help reduce frequent sleep attacks. Narcolepsy is caused by a sudden emotion, and for Clyde, that's fear. Whenever he's getting claustrophobic or a bug is too close to him, he might get a sleep attack. Personally, Clyde hates this disorder a lot and doesn't understand why he had to end up with it, but he usually makes it through the end of the day with only randomly falling asleep one to four times.
One time he was stuck in a bathroom with no windows, causing him to panic, get drowsy, and eventually fall asleep. Some people mistake this as fainting, but it's totally different. He grew used to it, but still hates it, it affects a lot of things, from hunting to school work, but sometimes he gets to make up school in work if something happened. Also, he might get drowsy on Reaping Days, and he can still remember the first Reaping Day for him when he was 12.\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||
"Here son, you stand here." said Clyde's mom.
He stepped into his spot and felt his knees weaken.
"LADIES FIRST!" the Town Mayor said.
He didn't pay any attention to the name that was called.
"TIME FOR THE MALES!" it disgusted Clyde how the mayor said it in a cheerful voice.
The name didn't start with a C, Clyde was safe.
He felt a rush of relief wave through his body, and his knees strengthened.
"Now Clyde, that wasn't so bad, was it?"
"I guess not mom."\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||///\\\|||
But as he grew older he knew he was safe, and he had many friends, some would come and go, others would stay. On his first day of hunting, he only shot a single rabbit with a bow and arrow. But he got better and enjoyed it more and more. District Nine, having forests, makes many people trip a lot, so... Clyde has had many injuries, nothing serious, broken arm, sprained ankle.
Shortly after his first reaping, his dad made him start hunting, although his family had enough money, getting more wouldn't be bad. He stiffly walked into the forest with bare-feet and a bow and arrow. Spotting a squirrel, he aimed the arrow and released it... he... missed the animal. Determined to make a point, he spotted a chipmunk, and easily shot it in the foot, although that was a bad spot, it was enough to kill the animal. He felt good, and the forest was relaxing, and he could see the sky, birds chirping, everything he enjoyed. Hunting was the one thing that let him be himself. He also never had a sleep attack while hunting, so that was something he wished to do all his life, even after the industry change.
Clyde has had many memories in his past, some good, some bad, but his favorite was on a cool spring day. Everyone in his family was home, and they decided to have a picnic. They had brung some fruits, sandwiches, and a fruit flavored drink. They went into their big backyard and feasted all day, laughing with his dad, talking with his mom, and playing games with his sister.Until suddenly a rainstorm came, and they had to stop eating. But Clyde and his sister were both young, and they didn't know better, so they jumped and laughed outside until nightfall, each one got sick, but both agreed it was the best day ever.
Clyde likes his life, and hopes it stays just the way it is.
