Personality:Rosanna's general appearance is nice. Her clothes may be slightly unsuitable for the cold winter months but she does her best to keep them clean. Usually her outfit consists of tough canvas pants, tight fitting but they touch her ankles, and one of the few T-shirts she has to choose from. She has no choice when it comes to foot wear. Her brown leather boots, thoroughly walked in but comfortable. She has one dress. she got it second hand when she was twelve for the reaping day. It's the prettiest thing she owns. Soft emerald green fabric with an oval neck-line and a skirt that end just below her knees. It has an embroidered silver flower on the skirt but other than that it's quite plain.
Silky chocolate brown hair falls around her oval face and over her shoulders, halfway down her back in one even curtain of hair. She hardly ever does anything with it except braid it back and occasionally pin it into a complicated series of plaits, though she has a weakness for flowers and you can often see her walking around with several different kinds woven into her glossy brown hairs. Her features are prominent. They aren't exactly little and feminine with her evenly set brown eyes and strong, straight nose. Her lips are fuller and curvy, probably the best part of her face. Her cheeks appear to be slightly hollow as she hardly ever gets enough to eat. Overall, she is pretty, but not in the obvious way that a lot of girls strive to look like.
Her body is slim and covered in olive-brown skin with a pink hint to it. Her neck, arms and legs are very long and in a way, quite elegant. Many people have remarked on how tiny her waist is. For a thirteen-year-old her chest is quite full. So again she has the body that people in the Capitol would kill for. In her world, it just means that she's underfed. Although she is bony, she is fit and a fast runner because of her lanky legs.
History:Rosanna is the quiet, thoughtful type. She doesn't like being around too many people at the same time, preferring to see only a few people at once. She can put up with a crowd; as long as they're not taking any interest in her and over time she's become used to the bustling streets of district 10. She can't take it when more than a few others are focused on her. She begins stuttering out stupid excuses and trips over her own feet. Even when she's only with one or two people, if she doesn't know them, she can hardly utter a few words. She is simply very shy, terrified of saying something stupid when there is nothing stupid to say. It takes a long time for her to get comfortable with something, but when she is she really does come out of her shell. She can be funny, charming and very pleasant, just as soon as you coax her out.
If you've known her a long time, you would notice how she spends almost all her time with animals. She's lost count of how many orphaned birds she's raised stray cats she's nursed back to health. She often sneaks a little food away from home and feeds it to the many dogs and cats roaming around the district. She feels happier with them. They don't feel the need to fill every spare moment with chatter. She is very poor and hardly has enough to survive but in her district where you can't turn your head without seeing a horse or a sheep or a cow, in a way, she is happy. She is lucky to have been born in the district that caters to the thing she loves most in the world. Animals.
Animals aren't her only interest though. She loves reading, drawing, writing, thinking and just being creative in general. She is also quite inquisitive, but because of her shyness, her questions usually go unanswered. Her creativity is useful for far more than just drawing a pretty picture to hang on the wall. She can tell you that the sky has turned orange and make you believe it. She can't help it. When she doesn'y know what to do, she lies, and bery often gets away with it. As a result of this, the line between what's right and wrong has become quite blurry for her. She has gotten into trouble countless times because of this. It's a good thing she's a fast runner, anyway.
Codeword: odairRose was the second born of twins. Colette and then Rosanna. She was born on a cold, rainy night and their father was still out tending to his livestock. Shortly after being born, Colette died. Rose's mother was far to weak to notice. Rose lay crying until her father returned to find his wife on the verge of death and only one surviving baby. If he had arrived home any later, both Rose and her mother would have died. He quickly wrapped Rose in their warmest blankets and began nursing his wife, Tristy, back to health. Thankfully both Tristy and Rosanna survived the night. Her parents still don't like talking about Colette. It made it worse that they named the two before they were born.
Rose's father, Eril, owned a few sheep and cows that he bred and sometimes slaughtered when they needed meat. He didn't earn very much as the quality of his flock was poor. It was just enough to keep the family going. Rose grew up reasonably well-fed, Eril often giving up his dinner to send Rose to bed with a full belly. When she was about three, Eril bought a very old shetland pony. That was when Rose's fascination with animals began. She loved the ugly little brown creature more than she loved life itself. She named him Patch. Goodness knows why as he was completely brown. Maybe it was because of the balding patches of skin all over him.
Patch died within a year. Rose simply couldn't feel any happiness for several monthes after that. After that, Rose only took interest in the stray animals around the district, and sometimes the odd horse, bred by the wealthier people in district 10. Eventually she had to begin school. She was about seven. She hated the idea of having to go listen to some boring person ramble on about the history of Panem and whatever else they taught at school. After one day she couldn't wait to go back. She learned to read and write and was by far the most promissing student in her class. she just couldn't seem to make friends. She wasn't used to the roudy children after spending so much time with calm animals. She kept to herself mostly.
Another seven years have passed and the most interesting thing that has happened was that Eril bought a few chickens and was able to sell the eggs for some extra money. She has been through two reaping days and has luckily not been taken away to die. She hates how repetitive her life seems to be. She has often wondered whether it would be worth dying in the Hunger Games, just to see the Capitol for a few days. So far she hasn't plucked up the courage to do so.
