Chasslin Montgomery District 11

Chasslin was never considered tall, but she was certainly taller than some of the other kids her age. She is very skinny, on account of never really having enough food. Enough to live on, yes, but never enough to be full. Her light brown hair is mottled with blonde, and runs to her waist. She usually wears it up in a pony. Her eyes are dark green with light specks of green. Her eyes are her favorite feature, because they are the only thing she has left of her mother. She is more on the pale side than the tan side.

She can't run very fast or very far, because of an injury she received as a child. When she was seven, part of the wall of their house collapsed on her while she was sleeping, and it injured her right leg. It starts to hurt whenever she runs, and when she has to walk a lot. Because of her injury, she can't fall asleep whenever her bed is against a wall. She's always afraid the same thing will happen.

Chass is very reliant on her Father and adopted sister, Frell. She has a job, so she work and get food for herself, and she knows how to take care of herself. But she knows if her father or Frell died, she would be lost. They are her only friends and sources of comfort. She doesn't allow herself to have many friends, because she's convinced they will either hurt her, or she will hurt them. She's had friends hurt her before, and she refuses to let that happen again.

She would do anything for her sister and father. They are her life, and if she let anything happen to them, she would never forgive herself. She has taken it upon herself to protect them, even though her father insists that is his job. She lets her decision-making get in her way where her family is involved.
Once, her sister was being teased in school, and Chass started beating up the girls teasing her without thinking about the trouble it would get her into.

Chass sometimes lets her father take care of her, beacause she knows he loves her and wants to take care of her sometimes. Also, she likes having a chance to take down her guard and let someone else worry about things for a while. She won't admit it to her family, but she likes being the protected rather than the protecter sometimes.

Chasslin's mother died when she was four years old. She died during a flu epidemic that also claimed the lives of their neighbor's parents. Her father adopted the orphan girl, who was two at the time. Her name was Frell. Chass knows that her father adopted the girl more to fill in the spaces her mother left behind than out of pity. Because really, how can you focus on your dead mother when a loud two-year-old is demanding all your attention?

Chass's father had to continue to work, so Chass was left to raise her sister by herself. She had some help from the Old Lady next door, but she doesn't like to admit that. Raising her sister is one of the biggest accomplishments of her life.

When she and her sister were old enough, they joined their father working in the orchards. Chasslin hates this work, but she does it anyways, knowing she is helping to put food on the table. Even so, there never seems to be quite enough food for everyone.
