Dawn Telle
And its all my own...
Even though they're twins, Dawn is the polar opposite of her brother. She is short but slender, with a round face and large eyes that give her a child-like appearance. Those eyes are a piercing icy blue color, accented by the off-white paleness of her skin. She has stick-straight blond hair that she keeps as clean as possible, which is especially hard since she hasn't cut it once and thus can sit on it.
She tends to dress simply, opting for a plain shirt and shorts rather than anything fancy. She keeps her face plain, not that she would be able to afford any make-up. But if she could, she wouldn't wear any anyways. Dawn likes to keep her "natural beauty" as intact as possible. However, there is one thing that detracts from her "natural beauty", and that is the fact that her right leg does not gain any any fat or muscle mass. It's a scrawny little thing that doesn't even support her weight, and she is forced to limp around on crutches. On the days that it gets really bad, she can't even handle that and is steered around in a wheelchair by her brother Dusk or someone else.
Sticks and stones are never gonna shake me...
Quiet
Dawn, or Dawnie as her twin brother likes to call her, has never been one for talking. She's always been more of the silent type, preferring to sit and revel in her thoughts rather than babble with the other girls about whatever they talked about. It is this trait that has labeled her snobbish and rude, but Dawn's really a kind girl. She's not antisocial, she was just never really interested in socializing. She's quite fine talking with her own voice in her head. She doesn't need other people to have a conversation.
Levelheaded
When stuck in a hard situation, this girl doesn't panic and freak out like it's the end of the world. Because she has no one else to bother her, Dawn just simply talks in her head, playing out what would be the best way to get out of the problem. When she finds a solution, she acts it out, and if it doesn't work, she just waits until she can think up a better one. Because she doesn't talk to anyone, Dawn tends to block out anyone who talks to her, so she isn't worried by anyone criticizing her for a solution that didn't work.
Depressed
Even when Dawn cancels out the voices of others, their teasing about her leg and her standoffishness gets to her. Has she ever seriously thought about suicide? No. She's thought about it some but never acted anything out, which is obvious because she's still alive. Her only solace is in her brother Dusk. They are polar opposites in both looks and personality, but, as twins, they get along very well. His seemingly eternal happiness can often cancel out her gloominess, and people are often surprised to see her laughing when she's with him.
And she's not depressed in that she's a stereotypical emo. She doesn't cut herself (heck, she couldn't do it if she wanted to; Dawn has a deathly phobia of blood), she doesn't wear all black, and she doesn't hate everyone and everything. True, she dislikes some people, but she does love someone. Dusk.
There's only butterflies...
Dawn was born the average child of average parents, both of whom worked in the orchards, along with her twin Dusk. They were just like any twins, best friends while also worst enemies. No one knows exactly what happened to Dawn's leg, but she was in an accident when she was only a few years old that shattered all three of the main bones in her right leg. She almost died, but the small amount of medical knowledge they had in District 11 pulled her through. However, something happened that caused her leg to not be able to grow any muscle or fat after that. She couldn't walk on that leg anymore, no matter how hard she tried.
At first Dawn didn't care. She was just a little girl, and her parents didn't act like she was any different from Dusk or anybody else. But when she started gong to school, things changed. People started noticing her crutches before the girl on them, and she seemed to never have any friends besides her twin. She started to fall into a depression, but never did anything further than cry herself to sleep and wonder when it was all going to end. She never killed herself, for fear of leaving her brother by himself.
Things just went downhill from there. Even in the dark cave of her mind, Dawn had room for crushes, and by the time she was twelve, she thought she had found the perfect man in Tylerson Lane. She confided this in Dusk, and, of course, he encouraged her to ask the boy out. Dawn wouldn't do it, so Dusk did it for her. The next day at school, Tylerson was walking towards her with a smile on his face... and dragged her into a closet. You can guess what happened next.
Six months later, the very tiny and slight Dawn was very clearly pregnant. How she had survived that long, nobody knew. Not even she could understand it, for she had felt like she was going to die soon many, many times. But it wasn't she who was going to die. Still a few months away from her due date, Dawn was in premature labor. The baby was born after a full twenty-four hours of labor, and died not long after. She was weakened so much from the birth, Dawn almost passed away for the third time in her life.
Recovery since then has been difficult. Her parents and Dusk knew that it wasn't her fault she had gotten pregnant, but everyone else assumed Dawn was a slut. Tylerson got away clean because no one was told that he had fathered the child, and most likely no one would have done anything if they were told. Dawn is now teetering ever so closely on the brink into total depression, but still, she keeps herself alive for Dusk. Just for Dusk.
