Raia Reed **District 11**

Raia is a beautiful but small, and frail looking girl. She is often told that she looks just like her father, who died when she was five. She has a gentle diamond shaped face and thin red lips. Her eyes are the deepest shade of emerald and has long full lashes. She is extremely small for her age, only about 4 foot 11, and is often thought of a weak, though she is stronger than she looks because she works day and night in the fields. Due to the fact that she is in one of the lower districts she is skinny, but she is not the skinniest girl in the district.

One of Raia’s best features is her shimmering dark brown hair that falls in ringlets down her back; she usually keeps it down, but has to pull it back in a ponytail to keep it out of her way while she works. Her nose is slightly large, but it doesn’t interfere with her looks very much, but her mother swears that if she ever has enough money, she’s sending her to the Capitol to get ‘that awful nose’ fixed. Raia has dark tan skin that is cracked and dried around her hands and arms for no apparent reason. When Raia was five, she fell and scraped just above her left eye, it almost got infected and now all that is left is an ugly scar that she covers with her bangs. Due to her good looks, Raia can coax some people into doing what she wants, but not to an extreme level. Due to her small stature, she is also very fast and agile.

Raia is a smart, shy girl, she knows her way around District Eleven and most importantly knows how to survive. Raia's family's approval is one of the most important things to her, which causes her to act differently around her family. One of the things Raia loves to do, is run. Her father would fun with her to an old oak tree near their house and they would just sit and talk. So she feels running is the only thing she has left of her father.

Even though Raia is smart, she is still twelve, though, she often doesn't act like it. She often pretends to know things she doesn't and tires to act more mature than she really is. Despite this act she is still very innocent and gullible. Her Stepfather often takes advantage of this and tells her stories about "ghosts" living in their small house or gory stories of the Hunger Games. This causes her to have terrible night terrors, which make her even more timid at school and around the town. All her shyness aside, Raia is actually very stubborn, she will secretly rebel against the strict law system whenever she can.

Raia has a very vivid imagination; when she is not having Night Terrors about ghosts or Hunger Games, she has wonderful dreams of butterflies and starry skies, happy times when her father was alive. Whenever she can get her hands on pad and paper, she will draw whatever she had in her dreams, she isn't a bad artist. She spends most of her time day-dreaming, making up stories and just staring off into space. She often does this while she is supposed to be working and has gotten punished pretty badly for it. This doesn't stop her from doing it though, but she has learned not to daydream while working.

Raia was born in District Eleven in a small house where her family has lived for years. She has only one sibling, her 14 year old brother Amos Reed. Her mother never really liked or wanted children all that much and often complains that it was all her late husbands idea. Only a year after Raia's father died, her mother remarried, to an awful, greedy man named Klay Frenz, who refused to give Raia and Amos his last name. Which Raia didn't mind all that much. Now, they are only adressed as 'those kids' and only spoken to when something is needed.

Raia's father was killed when she was five. Raia still doesn't know why he was killed, only that is was because he broke some kind of law (which really isnt hard to do in District 11). Raia can only keep a small picture of him in her pocket. When her father was alive, Raia and him were always closest, they would do everything together, and Raia always told him everything. When he was killed, she cried for months, not understanding fully why he was gone. Only when Amos found an old wrinkled picture of him, did Raia finally stop grieving, and yet, even today, she still misses him.

Raia's family has never been the wealthiest family in the distrcit, but they make enough money to survive. Amos and Raia have to work a little harder than they should, because their Stepfather refuses to work more than he has to, just to support them. Deep down Raia's mother does love her children, but not enough to stand up for them, just to keep them alive. She makes sure her children know and understand this. Amos is pretty much the only person that Raia loves and trusts, but she still feels the need to impress her mother. Their house is just a simple two room house. One room is the kitchen and the other is a bedroom they all share. Klay and their mother get the biggest bed while Amos and Raia are forced to share a twin sized bed and one sheet. The bedroom is divided by a fithy sheet, so that Klay won't be bothered by the 'little brats' while he's sleeping.

I just had a question, do I have to make a character for Amos too? Or could I just mention him in Raia posts?
