Summer James District 11

Really pretty blue eyes, long, curly blond hair, usually found with a daisy ringlet around her head. Always (except for on reaping day) is barefoot. Her feet are dirty and scarred as well as tough. Calluses are all over her feet and hands, making them tougher and stronger.

She is very thin, and just below average height, though she is out in the sun all the time, she is pale as can be. She is muscular from all the climbing and running she does. She has scars on her back from being hit by the guards when she does something wrong. They take no pity on her whatsoever.

She wears various colored tees, all which have breast pockets, and jeans. Her favorite shirt is a white and orange striped tee with a breast pocket. It's what she wears year round, except for the day if the reaping.On reaping day she wears a strapless white dress her mom gave her, with a daisy chain belt. She wears white sandals and another daisy ringlet on her head as a crown.

She is sweet to everyone, and hangs onto her life as well as she can. She is extremely stubborn. She is stressed out often, too often. Her stress levels are through the roof, because she is fully in charge of a pair of two year old twins, her brother and sister.

Her house is what's most dear to her, and she will do anything to keep it. Once someone broke in, and she threw knives at the intruder. The house is very small, but paid off. The house is old and has been passed down through generations on her mother's side of the family. Some people have their houses robbed and do nothing about it, not Summer. She loves her house and knows every nook and crannie to hide in.

She tends to bottle up her anger, and then just let it out. Climbing trees and running through the streets barefoot always let's out her anger, and takes her mind off of things, then she is the sweet, pretty girl her friends love. Some people have learned to deal with her anger outbursts and become friends with the mostly loving girl. She doesn't like being angry, but can not help it. When the peacemakers make her angry in the field, she bottles it up and runs when her shift is done. Running is the safest way possible to take out her anger, as well as climbing. She would hate to take her anger out on her brother and sister.

After the birth of her twin brother and sister, her dad abandoned them. Her mother was heartbroken and committed suicide. Her mother was the one who worked in the fields, and her father was the butcher. Both of these jobs were gone, so Summer went to get a job.

Summer climbs the big fruit trees and puts the fruit in a basket. She is the best climber for her age and there is only one or two people that are thirteen that climb more nimbly than her. She is strong enough to hold an overflowing basket, so she is paid more than average. She also steals fruit to help with her family's meals.

When stealing fruit she sneaks into the fields at night with her basket. She quietly climbs one of the trees in her section and grabs as much fruit as she can before one of the peacemakers wakes up and sees her. Some times she'll take the seeds from the fruit and plant them in her small yard. The seeds she has planted has grown, but are not old enough to bear fruit. Until they do begin bearing fruit, she has to keep stealing.

To get her mind off of things she either climbs things or runs around. She always does both activities barefoot. Always barefoot, some people say it's bad for her feet, but she doesn't care. It's the most comfortable (and affordable) solution.
