So I was reading through some of my old bios the other day, and I realized that there are some little nuances here and there that never made it into the characters' actual posts! In addition, there were a lot of little planning things that never even made it into the bios, and I thought it would be fun to put them all in one place and encourage you all to do the same!
RILEY LIGHTWOODWas actually supposed to be much less of a social butterfly than he is. Originally he was supposed to be a shut-in that never left his house. He has a weakness for sweets. In my head his speaking voice is Ryan Ross but his singing voice is Iron&Wine. He's a huge dork and has a secret stash of really lame comic books and action figures in his closet. He's incredibly nearsighted and wears contacts, but he has a ridiculous pair of Harry Potter nerd glasses that he wears when he's at home. He'll never admit it but he'd be happy to spend an evening with a huge thing of rocky road ice cream and a stack of cheesy romantic comedy movies.
CORINNE BRIGHTMANOriginally had cystic fibrosis instead of epilepsy, but I figured Career training would be nearly impossible with CF so I changed it. She really wants to be a dancer because she envies their grace and expression, but her parents never let her take lessons. Her name was almost Laurna Amherst. If she had the chance to go skydiving she would do it in a heartbeat, she loves heights rather than being frightened of them. I have fantasies of her being in a rock band and having Haley Williams' voice.
LYLA MATHESONIs absolutely TERRIFIED of clowns. No clue why. She sincerely wishes she was actually dumb. She's in love with every kind of coffee you can name, but there's a distinct possibility that there's caramel latte in her veins instead of blood. She can't stand vegetables. She braids her hair when she's nervous. Her trademark green aviators were found in a dumpster outside of school. She wears all sorts of obnoxious neon colors but her favorite color is actually deep royal blue.
LUKE MARLINGOriginally had a Sam Tsui FC instead of Brendon Urie. When he was younger he had this insane addiction to bubblegum, which I guess was transformed into his addictive drug habits during adolescence. He's a massive dork who loves kids movies and will run around inside my head belting out Disney songs at the top of his lungs. He comes across as a total ass and he is one for the most part, but he actually has a really sweet side. He has a massive Napoleon complex because he's so short. He's also prejudiced against tall people.
ARIA FOWLERHates the color purple with a fiery passion because she had a really uncomfortable purple dress that her mother made her wear when she was younger. Her guilty pleasure is trashy romance novels. Even though she's an opera singer she loves death metal. Her singing voice actually switches in my mind from Sara Bareilles to Adele to Florence Welch, which is very odd since none of them sound a thing alike. Her speaking voice is Naya Rivera <333 No clue why, but it is.
DENVER SAMUELSHas a pair of gray Chucks that he wears at all times for all occasions. Even though he's six foot six he's petrified of heights. He also really hates bugs, particularly spiders. His favorite season is fall because he likes taking pictures of the trees changing color. He has a really impressive vocabulary but he seldom uses it. He taught himself at a young age to play the piano. I watch the Harry Potter movies and laugh because I imagine Denver as Malfoy and it's so entertaining. He can't sing to save his life and is completely tone-deaf. When he talks in my head he sounds like Jackson Stewart from Hannah Montana, country twang and all.
JACE WHEATONWas ALMOSTALMOSTALMOST a girl named Jacklyn Wothesby using Alison Pill in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World as an FC. She would have been the same character, ADHD drummer with abandonment issues, only female and distinctly more of a badass than Jace turned out to be. Like, I had the bio up for her and was about to post the WIP and then my head went "OHEY, SPENCER SMITH IS A DRUMMER, CHANGE OF PLANS." Sometimes when I wrote my first few Jace posts I actually wrote them as Jacklyn and had to go back and make everything masculine before I posted. Over time the two of them have blurred together into this gender-neutral thing that I like to call Jacelyn, and they confuse me a lot because I never know which is talking and which wants what.
What about you guys? Tell us some interesting tidbits that we might not know about your characters and comment on others' posts!
