Four days in the arena. Now that he was alone, the weight of this was beginning to take its toll on his psyche. What was maybe an hour or two of sleep was plagued with Elise’s face, begging for mercy or in rage for vengeance. Any break his dreams got from Elise, Alliance would step up to the plate and their time on the train together was relived, except her body was in a bloody pulp as they sat chatting over lunch. The last visage before he woke was his boyfriend, the one person he loved most. Julian’s screams of hysteria on Reaping day would be something Midas would never forget. He couldn’t die, he refused to let Julian be broken at Midas’s own doing. These nightmares had woken Midas up with a jolt, and we was soaked in a cold sweat. After he was able to gather his senses of what he at least thought was reality, he quickly picked up his things and got moving for the day.
After leaving the Cornucopia, Midas knew he needed water, he could feel the dehydration taking it’s toll on his body with every step he took. He remembered Elise mentioning something about a frozen river to the west, so that is where he headed. Upon arriving at the banks of the river, some movement caught his attention out of the corner of his eye. His muscles tensed, he didn’t know if he had the strength to take down a tribute without getting water quickly. He shifted his weight toward the movement however and crouched to a fighting position.
Midas was surprised when the thing that caught his eye turned out to be an odd monkey and goat mix of a muttation, and it didn’t seem very threatening. It was a odd looking creature, as if something taken out of a childen's book; there was something mystical and almost benevolent about it. He still stayed poised to attack as the thing approached, just to be safe however. Though he knew not all muttations were vicious, he also never underestimated the tricks the Capitol had up their sleeves either.
