There are comes a time when you should just face the fact that the task at hand should be given up, and that only a fool would continue... Truth is I've always been a fool.
The shade of the Jack fruit tree was a treat as i peered to the top with a hand blocking the sun. Spotting the fruit at the top of the tree i glanced around me at the grouchy old Peace keeper who was staring me down like a hawk. I sighed and hurriedly walked up to the tree and began to climb. I was midway when the limbs began to thin out and i peeked upward... Not even close.. Choosing then testing, choosing and testing... Over and over again but then i slip.. or does the branch break..? My arms flail for the nearest branch as my left foot finds a hold. I stop and take in the damage. I broke a limb and cut up my right knee pretty bad. "Shoot.." I look around and think of something other than my knee. The fruit. So i start to climb again, slower but its better than nothing. After a while i made it to the Jack fruit and i tucked them away in the fold of my shirt.... Back on the ground i carefully place the fruit in the basket i have to carry. Taking a better look at my knee i knew it should be wrapped. "Why bother.." I mumbled to the wind. I stood over my basket with blood trickling down my shin only to have the hard leather shoes soak it up.
