((I was under the impression that this topic was dead when it wasn't. To maintain continuity, this topic takes place three months before any of Thomas's topics that were made after July 5th.))
Waiting on his stone steps, he seemed to have grown accustomed to the mystique of his own home. The estate itself was immeasurable, but not terribly expensive; the front yard was chiefly made up of a stone garden, while the back was more traditional. Complete with a large pond in place of a pool, the estate was clearly designed by the buyer, and with aesthetics as far in mind as practicality.
Even beyond the gate, the house itself was proof that Panem's economy wasn't completely destroyed. If a family in the Districts (albeit the higher districts) could be this wealthy while some of the poorer Capitolites struggled to make ends meet, who could call the Capitol on being unfair? The building had at least two stories on an ordinary residence, despite not being extremely ornate. Despite the absence of gaudy decorations, any onlooker could safely assume that the family dwelling inside was more than just well-off.
Still, waiting couldn't have been harder. Whether it was the pen or the sword they would be handling first (both equally mighty, in his humble opinion) Thomas just wanted to get started! Traditional career training may not have been as bluntly effective as the labyrinth variety, but the social element was unmistakable- and here, it was essential. The worst part was, she wasn't even running late yet and he had himself worked up... as long as he could stop his stomach from churning, he resolved that he would be fine.
