Abby Maine
Abby layed there in her bed. Sweat covered her, it was like swimming in her own sweat. She shivered because it sounded so gross. She sat up and looked over at her mini alarm clock. It read: Five fifty eight. Two minutes until her dad usually woke her up to do something. It was annoying how much stuff he made her do. Yester day it was catch a chicken, the day beofre it was get some water. And on the weekends its always to train. She hated how he didn't even help her. I mean it would be different if Mike was still here. She winced at the thought of his name.
They were best friends. He trained with her and did everything with her. She wanted to be just like him. She once thought she was in love with him. Then she relaized that sibilings can't date. It s illegal! What a wierdo she was when she wasn't in her double digits. She always wanted to be around him. When he went somewhere without her she cried and cried. Although that only happened once when he went out with a girl. She slapped the girl for "taking her brother away from her", oh yea right across the face. She broke up with Mike "for having a wierd family". Her dad was an abusive butcher... That was Mike and hers first fight. It only lasted an hour and they hugged it out. He was the nicest person she knew. With his blonde spikey hair. His tan skin and his very very tallness (tallness xD). She was really sad when he left for the mines. But he choose to, or dad did, she didn't know.
Abby was started when a knock on her do happened. She heard the irratating voice of her father: "Abby go get some water". Why can't he get his lazy butt up and get some?, Abby thought to herself. She rolled her eyes. "Yes father" Abby replied after she rolled her eyes. He told her to call him father instead of dad. Abby really hated her father, even though it is half is fault shes here. He didn't do anything for the family execpt work. Well I guess thats a good thing but still. He makes Abby do everything. He makes his wife cook. He makes Abby buy the things and sometimes catch them. And all he does is work at the stupid mines as a superviser. It does give him asthma witch is really bad. At least he gets to see Mike all the time.
Abby sighed and slowly got out of bed. Sweat dripped of her as she got out and went on the floor creating a puddle. Abby shivered a tthe sight of that. Ugh, it's such a hot summer!, Abby thought. She felt bad for the people in The Games. Half of then probably died of a heat stroke or thirst to death. She was so glad she didn't get picked this year. Shes been able to be reaped for two years now and thankfully she hasen't been picked yet. Abby walked over to her closet, it only took two steps, she had a tiny room, but thankfuly she has her own room. She opened it and grabbed a tank top and a jean skirt. Yes the two things fitting for such a hot day. She removed her pajamas which were long sleeves, which explained her sweatyness and put on the outfit on.
She opened the door and the light blinded her. She overed her eyes and started to walk forward. Then it happened, she ran smack into a wall. "OOF!" Abby yelped. She on covered her eyes and quickly got used to the light. Yea, that proves its really sunny outside today. The light is blinding and its only six o' five. Wow, what a day. She turned the corner and walked down the stairs and was automaticly greeted by her beautiful mother. "Honey, did you hurt youself up there, I heard a bump then an oof" Her mother said. Abby nooded no. It would be to emberassing to tell her mother she ran into a wall. "Mom, can I have a bagel?" Abbys mom nooded and walked over to a cabnet. She opened it and looked inside. She grabbed the bagels and went to the fridge. She frowned. "Sorry, honey were out of cream cheese, can you get some when your at the store?" Abbys mom said to her. Abby nooded and took the bagel.
She took a huge bite out of it and didn't even care it was plain bread. She had just this for dinner once, and it was good. She stretced her back and walked to the door. She grabbed her tennis-shoes and some socks. She put the socks on and removed her bedroom shoes. She put on her tennis shoes. She walked out the door and stood in the door way for a second. "I'm going mom" Abby yelled out to her mother. She pushed some hair out of her face and tucked it behind her ear. She set out for a long distance walk to the store.
***********
Abby was sweating, and sweating bad. She really needed water, she might even be dehydrated. That couldn't mean anything good. And there it was. A bench, out of no where she got enough strength to run to it. So she did so. She ran full speed to it and sat down. She smiled as her aching body started calming down. It felt amazing just to sit and rest. She laid her head back. And drifted off to a sleep.
She was startled when someone tapped her shoulder. She fidgeted as she started to wake up. The light blinded her again and she winced it pain. She looked to her left where hte source of the tapping came from. She couldn't see very well because she was still getting used to the light. She blincked a couple times and then she could see clearly. There was a girl sitting there. Abby couldn't tell the age but she had blonde hair and she was tan. She was taller than Abby which must have ment she was older. "Wake up, you're sweating buckets" The girl said. She laughed, the first time in a long time. Abby looked down and she was right. Thats pretty embrasssing. "Hi, I'm Abby. Whats your name?" Abby asked the blonde haired girl. She stuck her hand out for her to shake it.
