Just getting out of your training for the day, you wonder how exactly another tribute from a non-career district has won the games. The fact that a career came so close to winning and then fell makes it seem so much worse to you. It makes you feel almost as awful as the 55th Hunger Games, almost, but not equally. You are sure that when you become a tribute, you will end up winning the games. Even your fellow trainee's would be scared of you in the arena; worried that you might just kill them all. You know that you would not kill them until it was necessary, they would make your winning of the games much easier than it already will be.
These thoughts are ones that you know you should not have, instead your mind should be focused on what you are going to do when in the arena. Even though you try to get your mind off of it, you cannot help to think about all of the money and fame you will have when you win the Games. It is more than just the money though, you have that already, you want to bring back the glory that your district has lost over the last few years. In your head you know that you will do this, all of the other tributes will just be minor obstacles on your way to winning the Games.
The people that frustrate you the most are your trainers in District One, they hold you back. The endless potential that you believe you have is not being reached. It is exasperating that they do not see you are the best possible future tribute District One has. It is almost as if the trainers do not want District One to ever have a victor again. That thought is one you quickly push from your head, you know that most trainers are interested in money more than anything, and they get paid a share of the winnings if the victor is trained by them. Being a trainer is something that you would never lower yourself to; the only time that you plan on using to train teenagers for the Games is when you are their mentor.
These thoughts are slowing your day down though, summer is almost over and you have to get home and shower before you head out with your friends. Even besides that fact, you are slightly hungry, the place you train may be the best in all of District One, but it does not feed their trainees. The fact that they make you wait for a meal disgusts you.
As you walk, you keep your head held high despite the fact that you are all alone. It is obvious to the people walking by you that you are better than them. You wonder if they are scared of you, but you doubt it. Most of the people in District One know that you would never hurt them if they stay away from you. Winning the games is much more important to you than the unimportant people of your district. Once you win the games you will have to change, but fame that comes with winning is well worth that minor change.
