Arachne is a girl who might be beautiful for not the oppression and low quality of living in her district. She has long, dark blonde hair that naturally form ringlets to frame her face. Unfortunately with a lack of product and time to concern over such matters, her hair usually ends up looking a frizzy mess.
To describe her complexion as fair is a stretch; Arachne is positively white from the lack of sunlight her skin is exposed to. She spends day and night working in factories with her brother to help her poor family. The shadows under her deep brown eyes from a lack of sleep coupled with her strong brow give her gaze an intense, smokey look. Throw in her constant serious expression and one might describe her as hauntingly beautiful.
Adding to the ethereal yet eerie qualities of this young woman is her willowy stature. She is frail and thin as many people are in her district—a trait that is played up by her oversized, hand-me-down wardrobe from her mother. Her clothes often hang from her and flow as she walks in her usual slow, but precise and graceful pace.
The only things quick about Arachne’s movements are her fingers. She is an expert embroiderer and fabric weaver for her age, and her hand movements are adept and agile. This has left her boney fingers with many callouses, pin pricks and cuts, but the rapid way she can move her fingers is almost spider like.

History:Arachne is quite the opposite of her twin brother, Chance. While he is prone to laze about and daydream, Arachne’s primary focus is to be goal-oriented and strong for her family. Though they live in a more middle class area of District 8, there is very little comforts in the lives of these lower District citizens.
Overall, Arachne is quite a serious and quiet girl, but the one person who can generally get her to loosen up on occasion is her brother. They share a bond often found in twins, that is even stronger than that of the usual sibling. This bond ties their emotions together and thus it is hard for Chase’s lighthearted air not to rub off sometimes.
Arachne pretends to agree with her brother in his hatred for the Capitol, but in truth, her greatest ambition and largest secret is that she would love nothing more than to be a designer someday in the Capitol. She knows how much of a stretch it would be to make that dream even remotely feasible. Sometimes, she even dares to wonder if perhaps she was a victor in the Hunger Games, might this be the ticket to the better life she desperately dreams of?
Arachne grew up in a very average home in District 8. There was little money to spare, and her parents spent a majority of their time working shifts in a fabric weaving factory. She found comfort in her twin brother, but was often put off by his lighthearted attitude and lack of respect for rules. She was always known to be the serious and quiet one. It’s not that she didn’t have hopes and dreams of her own, as her imaginative brother did, but Arachne’s methods of pursuing those dreams became her driving edge at an early age.
While they were both still quite young, Arachne and Chase took up jobs picking cotton for fabric after school. When it was noted how agile and versatile Arachne’s hands were, she was quickly moved up to work in an embroidery factory that pandered to more intricate designs to be sent to District 1 and the Capitol. Arachne missed the company of her brother, but found that she may have truly found her calling.
Through her work at the factory, Arachne cultivated her dream to become more than the embroidery and yearned someday to be a designer herself. As truly awful as she found the Games to be, she couldn’t help but be dazzled year after year by all of the wonderful garments of the Opening Ceremonies. This drove her to work harder every day, living under a delusion that if perhaps she caught someone’s eye, she might have her dreams finally come true—something that is unheard of for little girls who come from District 8.
