Alright! So. We (the staff) thought we may as well make it clear now how this is all going to work, just to keep confusion from happening later. More will be added to this as we come up with and/or runs into things, as well as when people ask questions- which, as always, you are free to do at any time. =)
The Cornucopia
This formula will be used to select a number for each tribute:
12 + District – TS = #
Each tribute is put into a randomizer as many times as their number, and three are drawn. These three, along with the tree tributes who are missing, will be killed. A list of items will be given in the opening post; your character may attempt to grab whatever they see; a staff post will tell you whether they managed to get it or not. Be forewarned that the closer to the Cornucopia you get (and, therefore, the more valuable of an item you go after), the more likely you are to incur wounds and even add to the death count.
Duration of the Games: RPing
A lot can happen within the Arena- and a lot is encouraged to happen. The more you RP your character, the better an idea we’ll have of how, why, or even if we should kill them. Characters that are not RPed at all will probably be the first to be killed. Injuries will be taken into account, as will supplies found and alliances made. (Please note, however, that if your character suddenly starts finding all this wonderful stuff- well, just keep it fair and realistic, okay? Or we’ll kill them that much faster)
RPing doesn’t just have to happen in death threads; you can write about searching for food, fighting with an animal, or forming an alliance with another person. You don’t have to RP with another tribute, either; your character may be lying bleeding in the middle of nowhere, with no one to come to their rescue. If we deem it necessary, staff members may step in to RP animals, the terrain (by which I don’t mean the ground is going to start talking- I mean there may be an earthquake or something), or the weather- anything that suits our fancy, really. See Random Events
Random Events
Yay, randomness! Random events, like deaths, can happen at any moment, and can affect anyone; the difference is that these are not always fatal, and can make almost anything happen (they’re also not restricted by the randomizing system). Perhaps a cave has collapsed, trapping someone inside; maybe there’s a food shortage in the forest, causing the resident carnivores to become desperate for food and try and prey on your tributes; it could be that a new kind of muttation has been sent out, or the charred trees on the edge of the wasteland have caught fire.
Random events will be posted in the Games Updates board; corresponding RP posts will be made in the Arena.
Deaths
If your characters get in a squabble during RP and both RPers agree to kill one of them, that’s great! You’ve saved the staff a bit of trouble.
Deaths and methods of death will be randomized. After the bloodbath at the Cornucopia, they may be spaced out or they may be all together; it’s entirely random. Staff- and any of the Games staff are capable of doing this, so don’t try just placating me, because even if I was susceptible to bribes, the others will still be there- will decide how the character dies; they may be killed by another character, a wild animal, a rockslide, whatever (if you’re really lucky, a shoe may even fall on your character’s head! *shot for old reference*). It’s up to you to RP it out, and even (especially!) to put your own twists on it (was that knife in the throat an accident, perhaps?).
Deaths will be formulaic; there will be randomness involved, but after the bloodbath it’ll be a little more decisive. A staff member with no tributes will most likely be doing the drawing.
Donations
See a tribute you like? Want to help them out? Donate money to the mentor for that District; said mentor will use the money as they see fit to send food, weapons, medicine, or any other needed supplies to their tribute. As for what’s in it for you, you get bragging rights for picking the winner, as well as the knowledge that you had something to do with it.
To donate money, go to the profile of the desired mentor. There is a mini-profile bar on the left; the link on the very bottom of this bar says “Send Donation.” All you need to do is click that link and, on the next page, enter the amount you wish to donate. If for some reason you are unable to send or receive donations, please send a private message to either Rue (Lulu), myself, or Aya so they can give the correct amount to the mentor and remove the amount from the donator.
Mentors
Mentors will be able to buy items for their tributes by checking the Day/Item/Price chart (this will be posted as soon as it's finished), which shows which items are available for what price (which depends on the day; prices go up as the Games progress.) The 'Game Day' will be displayed in a sidebox of Games Information, which will appear shortly.
After Mentors select the item, they will fill out a short form in a PM and send it, once more, to Rue (Lulu), myself, or Aya:
The money will be deducted from the mentor's account and the item will be sent via silver parachute to the tribute.
