Maddox Hightower.
There is one thing you need to know about me, and it is that I am a self-hating woodworker. Yeah, I love being rather well off (in District 7 standards), but being half-cutter makes me hate how the woodworkers mistreat the cutters.
On reaping day, I met up with an woodworker boy, who said to me, "hey, cutter, why aren't you so short?"
"Because my father is a really tall woodworker", I replied.
"Seriously?"
"Please, you might have seen me once in a while..."
And thus we started to fight. Unfortunately (at least for me), I lost. Sometimes I wish to try the self-defense techniques the cutters use. It looks pretty brutal, but then, I'll show them who's boss. It worked for Blight, whom my mom says sneaked out into the forest in order to learn the moves, using it to great skill in the arena.
Because of the fight, I arrived at the reaping late, so I asked a cutter girl if I was reaped.
"No, Dysis Admea and Alexander Hood were," she replied.
I gulped hard. Dysis is an extremely beautiful girl. She might be a woodworker, but she is really poor. Somehow, I plan to ask my mother that if Dysis loses (which is quite likely, as there have been only two District 7 victors, Blight and some cutter lady whose name I forgot.), that if I can give the tesserae for the baby to her parents. I'm pretty mixed on what she'll say. I'm thinking she'll give it to another friend of hers.
But then, there's Alexander. There's something really suspicious about him, and I don't know why. Rumor has it is that Alexander is, in fact, his late half-sister, Phoebe um... Ritchie, I think it was? This explains why he's somewhat of a loner, as well as Phoebe's death under mysterious circumstances.
Well I wish Dysis the best. And I hope the rumors about Alexander are wrong, because I hope he (she?) doesn't get disqualified.
