I gotta get outta here,
Cause I’m afraid that this complacency is something I can’t shake.
Amaranth Sophia Leventis
One foot in front of the other. That's all it takes. Her bed was comfortably cool. The heat outside pulsated intensely at the house's walls but in her cocoon of a bed, she could ignore it all. Sharps edges of her notebook jabbed uncomfortably into her chest but Amaranth didn't mind much. In some way it gave her comfort. Knowing that each page, word, everything that she couldn't remember from the day before was written messily inside. Then again, she wished that there was no need for the composition notebook.
Pity wasn't in today's agenda. Therefore she reared her arse out of bed slightly upset with the blast of heat the confronted her. Her sheets were cold and welcoming, but the outside world was waiting for her. Amaranth couldn't turn it down. Of course she had options. One to stay in her bed and allow her mother to snarl at her for the rest of the day. Or two, get up and move. Option two would be beneficial in the long run.
Loosening her death grip on the notebook she set it down only for the few minutes it took to rummage through her small dresser and change for the day. Once she was decked out in a baggy yellow t-shirt and ripped up baby blue jeans, that notebook was once again surgically attached to her fingers. Slipping on some sandals Amaranth fleed the danger zone of her house only pausing momentarily to write down a couple of words, Wearing yellow shirt, blue ripped jeans. Left house.
It was her way of remembering the day. Amaranth never knew when the moment would strike and her memory would go dead. Today, she ignored her usual routine of jumping into memory lane and taking a stroll for she had a mission. One that she was determined to accomplish before returning home. That was simply to make one substantial friend. Surely Amaranth attracted many people due to her bubbly and happy personality. None of them could be considered true friends though. After a few months they'd flake of into utter oblivion leaving her reeling with the question, "What am I doing wrong?"
She tried her best, honestly she had no idea what was wrong. The moment she gained a new friend one would leave. Without notice or warning. Just a sudden drop out of her life. Amaranth wasn't sure if maybe it was her condition but all she wanted was one good friend. Someone that could take both sides of her, even make her feel as if she wasn't some freak split in half. Dowsing her expression in happiness Amaranth smiled. Eyes that flickered with bright determination long legs fighting for the lead, she believed she was ready for anything. Especially anyone.
The path she took led her around District Three most aimlessly. Her feet just kept walking, her heart bursting with hope, her head high in the clouds. She didn't mind the smog, or lack of sunlight. Normally this bothered her throughout the day for the sunshine seemed to be her only ally. It was the only thing that matched her personality and wouldn't judge her for it. There she walked one foot in front of the other just waiting for the unexpected.
I gotta get outta here
And I’m begging You, I’m begging You, I’m begging You to be my escape.
And I’m begging You, I’m begging You, I’m begging You to be my escape.
